In honor of Halloween and inspired by talk radio, what is your scariest movie moment?

Back in the late 60's/early 70's, a B grade movie came out that had a scene in it that will always stay with me. It was called The Legend of Boggy Creek. Supposedly the legend was a creature (sort of abominable snowman but forgot what they call them here) running around the backwoods of Arkansas. The one scene that scared me the most was when the people in the house turned around and the creature was looking back in at them. Ever since I have always been afraid/uneasy about having the blinds up after dark. The thought of looking towards a window and seeing someone or something staring back at me gives me the creeps.

What movie moment scared you the most?

When the girl comes out of the TV in the first Ring. Wow, I still get chills from even thinking about that.

Also in the Grudge when the woman is in the staircase about to leave work, then all the lights start to go out floor by floor, and she tries to run back inside only to get her purse caught in the door. As she finally pulls away, there are just these eyes in the darkness staring back at her as the door shuts. Not a real scary movie, but it had some really great chilling parts.

So many to choose from! I probably have to go back to Carrie and the "ankle grabbing" scene. I saw it in the theater (yes, I am that old  ) and I've never seen so much popcorn and coke go flying since! :earseek:

The kid vampire in Salem's Lot scratching on his friend's bedroom window asking to be let in.

When the lady in The Birds eye get pecked out.

Remember the mini-series IT? That whole movie (except the ending) freaked be out but the scene in the locker room when the drain opened up and the clown was down there was the worst. :earseek: I was afraid of drains for a long time after seeing that.

When the girl from The Exorcist comes spiderwalking down the stairs and starts spitting up blood in the rereleased version of the movie. The sounds she makes and the visual stick with me for days everytime I see it.

I recently saw Signs and thought the scene where the aliens land and start trying to get in their house is scary. Only because they don't actually show it happening but you know it is - you can hear it but they don't show it. The suspense is scary!

The scene from psycho where Tangina is telling them who Carol Anne is with on The Other Side.

Now, hold onto your selves. There's one more thing - a terrible presence is in there with her. So much rage, so much betrayal. I've never sensed anything like it. I don't know what hovers over this house, but it was strong enough to punch a hole into this world and take your daughter away from you. It keeps Carol Anne very close to it and away from the spectral light. It lies to her. It says things only a child can understand. He's been using her to restrain the others. To her, it simply is another child. To us, it is the Beast. Now let's go get your daughter.

The movie called 'Black Christmas' and the scene where the young girl rec'd a call from the 'killer' and he was in the house??!!???!!?? :earseek: Scared the daylights out of me!

I don't know about scariest, but ickiest goes to the tendon slicing scene in Pet Sematary. God, I get chills just thinking about it! :earseek: :earseek:

I'll answer later, but I thought NO ONE else had seen the Legend of Boggy Creek! I was a young teen or pre teen and it scared the bejeezus outta me! Made my brother sleep in my room that night!! For protection!

OMG, that about did me in. The first time I saw that was on TV and I nearly went over the back of the couch!!

The movie Duel directed by Steven Spielberg was excruciating to watch. I was scared of 18 wheelers for years.

The original Night of the Living Dead had some very scary parts in it.

The Omen. Maybe the best acted horror movie of all times.

I saw Carrie the day it came out, and people literally leapt to their feet and fled the theater when that happened. The suprise ending has been done a million times since, and it's kind of a cliche now, but it was a complete shock at the time.

Exactly! You were so totally not expecting it!

I had to stop reading the book because of the drain thing. Never did finish it.

You are the only person that I've found that remembers that movie. We were probably about the same age when it came out.
