under 12 hours to go now and feeling psyically ill with the thought of flying !! can handle a 3 hr spain flight but long haul is getting to e expecially the fact we r flying monarch with no gaurentee of sitting next to my partner, any one got any tips to overcome my fear of long haul flights ?

It's a long flight, however, time flies (pardon the pun!). Plenty of food, drink, duty free runs take time and inflight entertainment that you can actually sit back and watch rather than just getting snippets of between meals etc.. Don't clockwatch or have the flight map in front of you.
Relax tweeking last minute plans, you are going to the most magical place on earth!!

im the same i hate turbalance it always panics me, take lots of sweets and magazines or listen to some music, catch some sleep i know its hard but your be fine when your up and flying smoothly

have a great holiday !

Could you explain to the agent at check in your fears about being seperated from your partner? Maybe they would try harder to sit you together - if it was going to be an issue at all.

Hope you have a lovely time. Remember, the flight is just the start of the holiday. Its just like doing 3 short haul flights in one go. Break it up into segments and maybe set goals or tasks for each little sement.

Claire :)

I have no attention span on flights so magazines are better than books for me, also I can't concentrate on a film so I try and find the TV programmes on the seat back TVs (do the new systems still have these?) and I put some radio comedy on my MP3 player (there is usually some downloadable stuff on the BBC website) and find that helps a lot to pass the time too.

I did my first 9 hour flight to florida last september and really stressed myself about it for ages and when we finally got to the airport i was told i couldnt sit next to my husband :scared1: that was it then panic stations and i just cried thinking i wouldnt be able to cope with the flight :sad2: luckily i had bought a bach rescue remedy travel kit and it really did work! once i actually got on the plane and used my magic potions :rotfl:i was fine! the thought of the journey is horrible but just concentrate on where you will be when you get off the plane :cloud9: You will be fine honestly  If i can do it when im a real baby about everything then im sure you will be able to :goodvibes

Honestly, I'm not the greatest of flyer's either, I get myself very worked up before going anywhere, even short-haul.

The only way I get on to go to WDW is knowing what's waiting at the other end :rotfl2: If there wasn't as much fun to be had, I don't think I'd get on there!

I read - a lot. And I watch the shorter things on the TV, knowing if I can get through 3 episodes of The Simpsons for instance, I've nearly done just over another hour. I'll watch a Disney film if one is available too.

great ideas thank you, there is no tv on the monarch flight unless u cound the one in the isle but being only 5ft 1 i never get to see it lol, i going to buy some crossword books at the airport incase i cant sleep, whilst thinking about ickey mouse waiting for me :)

Hope everything goes well for you. At least you know at the end of the flight you will be able to have a fantastic time.

I always take my "Brits Guide to Orlando" in my hand luggage and read it properly from cover to cover. Have a wonderful holiday xx
