Scamming the fast pass system????

my son and i took a quick trip to clearwater to see a couple of phillies spring training games a couple of years back and decided to take a quick side trip to disneyworld...i had my entire families annual passes with me and was able to use my wife's and daughter's passes to obtain fastpasses...as has been mentioned, they got wise to it and now to get a fastpass you have to have used the admission media at the gate that day...

btw, my daughter and i were out at disneyland back in april and they do have attractions that are not "connected" to the main system. We were able to hold a fastpass for indiana jones and still get one for pirates...we were also able to walk over to california adventure and get fastpasses for attractions there while holding fastpasses for attractions at disneyland...

A nice lady gave us fastpassess for little Mermaid as she didn't need them, we wouldn't have been able to catch it otherwise.

Oh, and don't shoot me, but on Buzz Lightyear, there was no CM collecting FP's, so we used them again and had 2 consecutive FP rides. Yes, I felt a bit bad about the guests in standby, but wouldn't you have done the same?

After my trip to DLP where dozens of guests encouraged their children to "accidently" wander through the barriers to the front of the line...and then they "had" to follow them, and whoops, look, they're all at the front, how did that happen?...oh, and the CMs just watched, chewing gum and laughing about it...well, I think I deserved a free FP ride.

Nope, I'm honest - I even return the change when a cashier makes a mistake. And I don't believe "I deserve a free FP ride" either.

And since when do CMs chew gum?

No, don't see myself doing that one either. I do sometimes get FP's when we don't want or need them to pass on to some poor overburdened couple who don't know about FP's though. I will also stand back and let people who have never been before, not likely to get that way again or with small children have the better seat on a ride cause I am one of the fortunate ones who has been there, is back and will return soon.

Luckily I am only in charge of my own conscience and not any one elses. Too much of a burden for these poor shoulders to bear. LOL

BTW, children are welcome to sit in front of me for any parade that happens by. The look in their eyes is often even better than the parade for me.

I believe in what comes around goes around to much to not give the money back!!! On our last trip we were getting gas before hitting the interstate--- the gas attendent gave us $10 too much change-- I made DH turn around (we were only a mile away) and give it back. I didn't want to start the trip w/ bad karma following us.

We just returned from a large family trip. I carry all the passes in my family so that way they dont get lost. On this trip I also carried mil pass as well. One day I was getting Fastpasses for an attraction and I took out all my passes and put them in one by one. Then one Fast pass popped out and said I was not eligible for one. I turned the pass over and it was my mil--she didnt go to the park with us that day. So it appears unless you enter the park and use your ticket that day a Fastpass will not be given.

I would never do anything to anyone that I would not want them to do to me. At least I try to live that way, anything else is just too complicated for me.

I always ask for the best rate when checking in and make it a point to tell them that we do not trash rooms or take things. The day after staying at one such place I unpacked and found a small white bathmat from the previous night. I was mortified and did mail it back.

If I fail to make it to the pearly gates I would not want it to be for something to do with money, now a wild weekend with Tom Sellack might be worth it. (off to ruminate on that one for awhile)

For the sake of information I will say that Yes there are disconnected FP machines in the MK. I can't even remember anymore which ones they are, but it is not important because I do remember that they were not big rides. Disneyland is another matter. There are several disconnected rides at DL/CA.

Also I don't think anyone has ever said it was wrong or dishonest to give away a set of FP's to a stranger.

Last of all, anyone who has ever needed to spend an hour going over receipts because the register was off knows to ALWAYS give back the money if you get too much change.

If you use the FP system correctly you can almost always have less than 10 minute waits in line. There is no need to get around or cheat the system, it works beautifully.

We just returned from Anaheim last night.

We are a family of 4, and DS4 isn't tall enough or old enough to ride California Screain'.

We used all four APs and got 4 FPs for CS . I rode with DS10, then DH rode with DS10.

I never felt like I was ripping off the system. DS10 got to ride 2x, each time with a parent.

Disney makes you purchase tickets for 3 year olds who aren't tall enough for everything. If their system will give me a FP I will use it.

I don't know about DL, but at WDW you can take it a step further. I'll use your family (mom, dad, big kid, little kid) as an example:

You get the 4 FP's, just like you did, and then because you have a too-small-to-ride child, you do the baby swap. So you get one additional ride for 3 members of your party.

At some rides (RnRC for example) a CM gives you a child swap pass on a little paper that looks alot like a fast pass, except (and this is the best part) there is no date or time on it! We've always just hung onto them and used them later in the day when we had some time to kill or whatever, but I suppose you could even use them another day?

At other rides, there was no paper child swap pass (Dinosaur in AK, for example), but you could still get the 4 FP's; use 2 FP's for dad and big kid and tell the CM you want to do the baby swap. After dad and big kid finish the ride, mom and big kid go using baby swap (no FP needed). Then you still have the 2 remaining FP's for dad and big kid to go back on again, and again tell the CM you want to do the baby swap, so then mom and big kid go again.

I don't believe this to be cheating at all, just being smart! Only drawback is that all of this riding takes a good chunk of time, and the poor little kid is left out. We always make sure to get the little one a treat while he's waiting, and then be sure to immediately go to an attraction that he will enjoy when we're finished.

Using tickets that are active for that day in a park to get FastPasses are no way cheating.

To me "cheating" isn't even possible at WDW anymore ,like it was when the FP system first began a few years ago.Like someone said anything magnetic could be used or you could actually flip open the back and click it.I saw that done when Erich and I were there with a friend who was a CM.We put our tickets in and no FP came out.He opened the back ,clicked something and ,here they came! I was like :earseek: I never tried it myself as I was too scared someone might catch me and escort me out! OY! I didn't want to end up on Mickey's Most Wanted List!!! :p

Don't they have a CM located at every FP area?

They did not have a cm at every fast pass area on our last trip, because the machine ate one ladies ticket and she had to hunt someone down to help her. I never did see what happened with that.

Seems like there is usually 2 people check for FP tickets, one CM at the entrance that lets you in, and one at the end that takes the ticket. Am I wrong?

We went to DL this year and on that board they were able to share the 'disconnected' FP machines. I didn't remember which ones they were and didn't use the information for our trip, but I can see how that can be helpful.

Personally, I wish they would allow you to get 1 FP for each FP ride per ticket the first time you use them and THEN put a time limit on when you get the next ones. Sometimes the times on the FP is a long ways away!

So, I guess what is being said is that there are disconnected machines, but on the WDW parks boards you can not share that information the way you can on the DL board. Correct?

Well I guess you can always give it a try and see if your passes work if you are holding another ticket. The worse that happens if that your pass comes out and a message that says you can't have a ticket now. Right?

At WDW, you can hold fastpasses from different parks at the same time. So, you could get a fastpass for Space Mountain and then go over to Epcot and eta fastpass for Test Track.... You just see it much more often in California because park hopping is much easier to do.

The fastpass rules are no longer waived at Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. All nine locations allow you to get another fastpass when the one you are holding becomes valid or two hours later, whichever comes first. The only time this does not apply is when there are system problems.
