From the land of "When you think you've seen it all" comes yet another scam. Earlier I was in a couple of quest rooms (the tracks and the shipwreck) and saw multiple instances of people asking how to get the pin, etc. I was busy and didn't have a chance to answer, when suddenly I see other players saying "I'll tell you if you give me your _______" (everything from magic to beta items! :sad2: ). In multiple cases, the players were about to fall for it and said okay and that they had rare items they'd trade. Luckily I noticed and told where to start the quest/how to get pins before they got ripped off. Another example was a guy telling a girl "I'll trade you your magic for my autopia pin." And I spoke up and said they aren't tradeable. But before I could report the weasels, all 4 times VMK DCed on me again. :badpc:

So, just wanted to warn everyone to be on the lookout for this (and parents to warn your children if they haven't started the quests) and try and answer questions if you can. And for those of you having trouble with the quests, keep asking until you find someone who'll give you answers. Never EVER trade anything for info on how to start quests, how to get pins, etc.

VMK seems to bring out the best in many people, but the worst in others. :sad2: So just be diligent, folks.

I too saw something like this, and promptly butted in telling the new player they could not get the pin by trading and how to get it. I did not think about reporting the scammer tho, will do from now on if I see it again.

We should all keep an eye out for such antics. There are still so many new players coming to VMK all the time, can't let them be prey for the scummy scammers. If anyone sees it, get in there quick

I have seen this too. I always speak up when I see something like this.
Just the other day, I had a kid asking to trade for my blue car pin. I instantly told the person that they are not tradable. They then asked me if I would try trading it. I again said they can not be traded and that none of the new magic pins can be traded. But they have to be gotten by doing the quests. I of course told him where to start and how.
I think I finally got it through to him that they can't be traded.
But, this is the type of scam that happens when things are not tradable.

I have a semi-related question - I got the diver suit (minus helmut) from the tomorrow land air lock game - is it tradeable? I thought it was but tried and could not trade it. However, I was trying to trade with a boy and my character is a girl, are there boy vs. girl suits and maybe that is why it wouldn't let me trade it? Any help would be appreciated. :)

peasy, sorry, the diver's suit is non-tradable. It was very briefly when it first came out. Then, I think, a day later they made it non-tradable and have let it ramain that way. The only way to get it is by earning it yourself or by trading for the code (or receiving it as a gift).

oh, ok thanks! After reading the banning post, now I'm freaked out I might get banned for trying to trade it! Yikes, I had no idea! How do you gift something to someone? I really will never wear it - it makes my girl look very odd...LOL

Gifting or trading of the suit can only be done in the code form. Once you use the code, it's no longer of any use. If you have the suit in your inventory and don't want it, the only thing you can do is sell it.

And what post about banning?

the one entitled Banned for 10 years what? Reinstated woohoo

thanks so much for all your help, I'll just hang on to it and maybe I'll have enough "extra" credits to buy the helmet someday - LOL

I yell at these scammers but everytime I do, everytime I butt in, I cringe and wait to see if they report me. You know they are using a mule that can't be tracked to them, and that they will report you just for the heck of it. Because you pissed them off.

I have been lucky. Continue to stand up to them. There is hope since seeing schnerk reinstated.

Good job SorcererDonald16, Mad4WDW, Cteddiesgirl, and everyone
Thank you from my Kids and me!!!

The newsletter states if a players asks to be "paid" for helping you with a quest, you should report them. :thumbsup2

This is why it's so important to read all the info on vmk's web site!! Everything you need to know to play the game is there. Kids need to learn to read and follow instructions. It's critical in everyday life.
