SCAL question

Is SCAL worth the price and is it easy to use? I'm debating about it and all of the literature says the same thing. Just one big promo.....you have to have this! Figures you all would know better than anyone else. SO.....

I have SCAL and while I like it and recognize its potential, I haven't wanted to invest the time to learn it. It is extremely simple to do the basic weld and shadow - -easier than CDS actually. I get hung up on just downloading fonts which is easy on my computer, but I can't figure it out on my laptop (VISTA:mad: ) and that is where SCAL is.

If you are willing to spend the short amount of time to learn it, then yes, I say go for it!

One more thing -- this question will probably get you more answers if you post it on the scrapbooking forum.

Ummm, here's a dumb question. What is SCAL? I want to say that " I Think " I've heard of it from my friend M_M, but not sure........Thanks!

sure cuts a lot -- a program that allows you to download true type fonts (which is mostly all fonts) and cut them with your cricut.

I have been using it a lot lately -- most of my titles for the sports elements and completed pages I made with SCAL.

Does SCAL work with images as well as fonts? I've seen some people use images from coloring books or other sources to make paper pieces. Is this the program they're using?

Yes, you can use dingbat images directly in SCAL. The coloring book images you've seen require an additional step. inkscape is a free program you can download -- you need to prepare your image there -- make it an SVG file that SCAL can work from, separate your layers ... I get a little lost here.

I get lost in Inkscape too. I haven't been able to find a tutorial that makes much sense to me. Have you?

Just the ones Hopemax posted in the Look what I made SCAL thread. I can follow what she is doing, but the images I pick always seem to have something that makes them not quite like hers and requires additional steps that I don't know.

I really need to figure out how to make a base -- I like that about the cricut pieces - -you glue them together on the base.

Yes, I agree. I know Hopemax made a base for her little Mexican boy, how did she do that?
