SB: Printer for scrabooking ?

I have looked at all the wonderful software for scrapbooking but I haven't bought any as yet. The reason is that my printer ink is water soluble. I know I need to update it, but I get so confused with all that is out there. I don't want to spend a fortune, yet I want something that I won't get home and two weeks later wish I'd gotten something different.

What type of printer do you use and why? Can you give me some pointers of what to look for and why?
