SB: Chalk

Does anyone use chalk on your pages? I can't picture how you would use it. Any sample pages to share?

I've only used it a few times, but it really makes die cuts stand out when you chalk along the edges.

Some uses:

Chalk the edges of torn paper. to make waves blend, or mountaintops.

Bring life to diecuts.

Great for blending on paper piecings.

Can use it "to show age" on crinkled paper.

That is all I can think of now.

used chalk once so far-
I had B&W photos that I hand colored and I didn't want my title to stand out more than the photos so I used a stencil and chalked the title - it came out beautiful - just what I wanted - so you see the pics first!

Just this week I purchased a plain white embossed 'frame' to use in my sis's wedding album. It had flowers embossed but it was all white so no pizzaz. I colored the flowers with my chalks and now you can actually tell they are there.

I used my chalks on a wedding layout using black and white photos on a white cardstock background. I wrote my journalling in a spiral and then chalked over it. It makes the journalling stand out but not fight with the photos.

I use chalk all the time! It's fabulous! I got it when I started my Disney Cruise SB, and you can tell cus I used it a lot in that album

I used it in my Hawaii pages if you wanna check out how I used it:

OAHU: I used it to color the OAHU letters to match my background paper (they were cream color when I bought them) I also used it on the shells and the squares I put the shells in. (Just chalked the edges for a depth look to it)


POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER: I chalked my palm tree and also on the brown ripped cardstock at the bottom (it was white when I ripped it and I chalked it yellow)

VOLCANOES: I used a lot of chalk to make my volcano!

SOUTHERMOST POINT: I chalked ALL the edges of the torn cardstock and also on the blue ocean to make waves.

BLACK SAND BEACH: I chalked the background of my journaling square, chalked the 3 shells and also chalked the background on my shaker box (the thing with palm trees and black sand in it) so it looks like a sunset.

Chalk is a great way to give some depth and dimension to almost anything on your SB layout! Have fun cus there are so many ways you can use it!!!

O.K. - I can't believe I missed it in your scrapbook, Timon, because I STUDY your pages ALL the time.


I'll have to check out the chalking supplies and see what I can get myself into.

I have used it on some pages that the papers are so close in color and it will make the top paper just pop out . I like it alot. Practice on some scraps. it also looks great on titles with a background.
