Surprises are wonderful, but 30% room discounts are better than rack!

Corey decided that she was going to take us to WDW for our 10th Anniversary later this year. While this is wonderful news to me, it's something that she had decided before we were at WDW in December. While we were there, I asked her if we should book the Bounceback code, just in case our finances (we want/need new floors) or desires for a WDW vacation changed, but she said no.

Today, after getting to go to WDW without me, she tells me to work the numbers and that we will book a trip. She wanted to do it as a surprise, but knows that I can find a better deal.

You guys know that I love her, but "Dangit!" Why oh why didn't she book it on the sly? Heck, why didn't I book it on the sly? I just knew that she wouldn't hold out on me this year. She is as addicted to pixie dust as I am....she just hides it better.

So, she drops this on me after 8pm. Now I should be asleep, but I am up sweating it out now working on details of an awesome somewhat "budget trip" for us in October during the week of her birthday. There is no way that I can make the Poly affordable now....not without at least a 40% off code.

Did I mention, "Dangit!" Oh, and I'm going to WDW!

You're funny. I don't know you guys but if you're like my DP 1/2 (heck 3/4) of the fun for her is planning. I can't surprise her. First of all I just have to share what I'm up to with someone so I pick her. When we had our wedding back in 1996 we couldn't afford fancy so we had a very simple party at a local park. For her 40th birthday I did an elegant party at a local hotel. But rather than surprise her I told her about it and she planned the whole thing. I told her it was part of her present.

So enjoy the planning. I've got to believe we'll be seeing more deals as the year goes on and they'll come out with something after the Buy4 Get 3 deal ends on the 24th. I don't know about you guys but we'll sometimes book something just to make sure we have it, but as deals come out we change it. So good luck on getting to the Poly. We're staying at CBR in April/May and feel extravagant (we usually do the values).

Yeah, I am the planning nut. I do believe there will be more discounts coming. The media is still scaring the bejezzus out of the country about this recession, so no one wants to get off their wallets. I am hopeful that we can get her to the Poly again, since it's her favorite resort....and mine.

Yeah, yeah, no complaints. And never say never....Corey just swore up and down for MONTHS that we were not taking a trip together to WDW this year.

Yeah, I am going solo in April and we are going in October. I realize that I am blessed to have these opportunities, but I would like to make sure that Corey is spoiled rotten for her birthday. I think I see some overtime in my future.
