So I am leaving for Disney in less than 2 weeks and decided to go to the mall in Concordville, DE to check out the Disney Store to see if I could get any good deals before I leave. Who do I see there? Yup, Pooh and Tigger. Apparently the Disney Store re-opened with their "new look" and they had Pooh and Tigger come to help celebrate. They were giving balloons away and everything. Not a bad way to get me excited about my trip. My kids however weren't too excited because they aren't going on this trip. Just mom and friend on a business trip. (Yeah right.) :tigger: pooh:

My Disney Store is getting a new look too! Does yours have a big red Mickey at the opening now? Ours doesn't open until May 23rd, so I'm anxiously awaiting to see if they have any big Grand Opening sales! :woohoo: (And maybe I'll get to see Pooh too! pooh: )

I wanted to go to this but I had to work. I did go to this new Disney Store (Concord Mall) about 2 weeks ago, 2 days after it opened in its new location, and I dont really like the new store compared to the old one. The outside of the store with the big red Mickey ears looks cool, but other than that it doesnt scream "Disney" to me at all aside from the Pooh themed area in the back of the store. I think this store is way too small, and the wood floors dont give me the feeling of being in a Disney Store. I felt like I was in a Gap Kids with a TV in the back :sad2: -

I have to agree with you, I 4WDW. I liked the red ears but the store reminded me of The Children's Place. (Wonder why?) It is a lot smaller but I am used to going to the one in the Exton Mall and that is tiny too. I missed all of the Disney Statues and stuff. Oh well, at least the store is still nearby.

How exciting! A couple of weeks after ours reopened they had Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty there. My DD (and I :rolleyes1 ) was so excited!!

I agree about not caring much for the new look. I am just glad we still have a store at all though. Our store has Peter Pan characters in it.

Do you all know if they are renovating all of the Disney stores or just a select few? Any place I could get this information?

As far as the characters for the Grand Re-Openings...did you all know ahead of time about this or just happen to stumble upon it?

My girls would love to see some characters at our Disney store!

We went to the Concord Mall store yesterday also, boy was it packed. I missed Pooh & Tigger by a few minutes but they did have a employee offering to play a game with people where you picked a pooh story booklet out of a basket and could win prizes if it had a star on it. I didn't win but I made Dh play and told him maybe he'd be luckier. I'm glad he was sporting about it, because he won us a $10 GC good at the Disney Store or the parks pixiedust: Its already packed for our trip in less then 2 weeks to WDW.

I think I pressed my luck though when I asked Dh how much he thought the entire Pooh themed area in the back would be, and if it would fit in our soon to be finished basement room. :eeyore: pooh: :tigger:

I live in the Indianapolis area and as far as I know, they've redone one Disney Store on the northside and are currently working on the store at Circle Center mall in downtown Indy. The store I usually go to, on the southside, is not currently being renovated. I have to agree with previous posters. I do not like the new look either. It seems like a very small store to me, too.

Our store was redesigned last summer. The only thing I don't like is the floor. We have ceramic tiles while the newer redesigns have wooden floors. Not easy to work a shift on those floors..... The new stores are much brighter than the older stores. Most people do say they feel our store is smaller, but it's in the exact same location with the same square footage. I think the difference is the fact that there are more fixtures, the large Mickey in the middle of the store and the ceilings have been lowered. It's still a fun place to work and we have a great time interacting with guests. For our grand opening, we had Cinderella and Snow White. They were great with the kids! We had a ribbon cutting at the store entrance and handed out balloons to folks. I don't remember having any special sales or deals that day, but we sold alot of princess costumes so the little girls could have their pictures taken with the "real" princesses. It was a great day and so much fun!!!!

Oh my, Your picture is so adorable!!

We knew a couple of weeks ahead of time. In my opinion they didn't advertise it well. All they had was a small sign in the window that told when characters would be there. If you didn't see that then you wouldn't have found out unless an employee told you. I was in there a couple of times and was never told about. An employee did tell my friend and that's how I found out. When I asked about it they said they didn't know which characters were coming.

I don't know if they are redoing them all. I would guess they eventually would. I worked for The Disney Store for 6 years but all my old contacts there have now left also so I no longer am in the know....wish I was!

Here are some of our pictures from that day. :cloud9:

At our store, we were told we may possibly have a character visit. I'm not sure that every store that is redesigned will have a visit. We did mention it to all the guests who came in and that we heard rumors of who was coming. But we couldn't tell them for sure in case is changed. Eventually, all the stores will be the new design - the oldest stores were done first and then the newer ones will be last. #1 Pocahontas, you had the same Cinderella visit your store that we had visit ours!!!! Looks like your daughter was enjoying herself.
