So far DD looks healthy....another blood test will be done this week to rule out Turners syndrome, and a variation of it, but there are no "red flag" signs pointing to it. It is a bit confusing tho as she should be at least 30 lb.s heavier and 8" taller right now, from her size at birth etc. The blood test results take 6 weeks, and she may need further testing, but at this time she seems healthy on the inside and out. One big relief...the pediatricians office misread the origional wrist x-ray age at 8.5 years...and the endocinologist measures her out at just under 11 years. She is 12.5 now so that is a much better gap than we thought.There is still a lot to cover but for now, no immediate concerns!:D Right now she is charted to be 5' tall and about 85-90#. Small but mighty!
Thanks again for everyones helpful advice, it is very comforting to know DD won't be alone on this!
Pam

Thanks for the update on your DD. Hope that everything turns out well for her! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Sounds good, Pam. Glad to hear things don't look to down, but rather, fairly normal. Good news.

I hope the tests turn out the way you are hoping and that your daughter continues to be healthy

Thanks for the update Pam! Glad to hear that she looks to be good both inside and out and the other readings were incorrect. I hope the tests they ran will show good things for her, and if she is small, don't worry... being 5' isn't bad at all :)

is 5' & 90 # considered small for 12.5 yr old
I mean I know it's not large but I know full grown women that aren't much bigger or not bigger than that?
maybe she's just petite

I am one of those women that is petite. I am just under 5' and weight about 102. When I graduated from highschool I was even skinnier(that was a loooong time ago). Your daughter is actually in the same growth range as mine.

Hi again.....thanks for all the helpful insight and hugs...
luvs2nascar...that is the predicted final growth for Alyse when she will be about 19 or so. If she were at that now, you are right in your thoughts. She would be right in an average range fo a 12 year old.
P-nut...your screen name is now very self-explanatory!
:)
I asked the doctor why if someone is off the charts the other direction, does the medical field think there may be a growth problem the other way, and he said it is a concern if it is weight, but generally not for height.
I guess if you are petite/small....you can be viewed as frail and sickly....(runt of the litter theory) I am glad to hear from so many who are living proof that this is not the case!

I was 4'5" until about midway through high school when I got my growth spurt. I was so excited that I finally got to stand on one of those risers for chorus :) Your daughter sounds like she is just petite. Petite people are SO cute, just my opinion :) By the way I grew almost a full foot in high school to reach my final height of 5'4" so maybe your daughter will do that same sort of thing! :) Glad to hear everything went well though!
