I am just back from a five day trip to WDW. It was fun. My DD and I both made it to the hot seat at Who Wants to be a Millionaire-Play It.

One of the most exciting things was on Friday, August 4 where we saw a lady wearing a Baylor shirt win the million points and the cruise. It was very exciting to watch her play. She was lucky and had a phone a complete stranger answer who knew how many career completions Dan Marino had in his career. All of the choice ended in 7 and so this was a very difficult question. The last question was which cartoonist came up with the concept of using an elephant for the symbol of the Republican Party? My DD knew the anwer before the answers were shown on the screen-her American History teacher will be proud of her.

It was very exciting to see a million point game.

Wow that would be exciting! Whenever I've had the opportunity to play no one was ever lucky enough to get that far!

COOL -- I didn't think anyone ever really got that far!!!

That's cool!! I bombed on the 64,000 point question aout 14 months ago. Oh and just for the record; Marino 4967 career completions and Thomas Nast was the cartoonist!! pirate:

Getting onto the hot seat is a blast. I am sorry that I left off the answers to the questions.

BTW, according to a friend there was another Dan Marino question a couple of weeks ago asking how many rushing yards did Marino have?

I made it to the hot seat in May, and missed the 64,000 point question.

What was the first DVD released with a free cellphone?

Jurassic Park 3
Independence Day
Air Force One
Phantom Menace
Hmmmm, was it Independence Day?

I would guess Jurassic Park 3, since the other movies could sell well on their own without a promotional gimmick.

When we were there about a month ago the host told us that an 8 year old had just won the cruise. I thought that was so cool!

I have never seen this played but maybe on a childless trip at some point we will (or when they are older).

I do think it stinks that the winners have to pay taxes on their winnings (which isn't cash - but prizes). I know its standard game show rules, but it would make me think twice about "accepting" prizes.

Hmm, that's weird....I was at MGM on Sunday (8/7) and a CM said that they haven't had anyone win the cruise yet.

My friend Sharon (Hightown on these boards) won the cruise last Oct 15. I was there along with my daughter and Sharons daughter and the crowd was very excited for her. she was winner number 97 at that point. We know winner number 106 happened in April of this year. He also posts on disboards.
The week Sharon won there had been two other winners that week. The CM did tell us it had been a while since the last winner...if memory is not completley gone I think she said about 6 weeks.
We figured it to be about 20 winners a year.

Still waiting for my chance...been number two many times

I got up to the 500,000 pt. question-= and missed on a question about turkish coffee! I don't even drink coffee- too bad for me ;(

Course this thread jumps out at me! I'm the one Lori posted about--winner #97.

It's a hugh thrill! I'd just love to be there when someone else wins however. I just want to go NUUUTTTTS!

Wonder who the host was?

I'll be eligible for the big prize when we go back in November but honestly, I'd refuse/not take the cruise. It was great but I'm going to get killed in taxes!

Congrats to #108 whereever you are!

Sharon

I was beginning to wonder when my DD would be dethroned as the reigning WWTBAM Million Point winner. She is the 8 year old that won on June 7th (#107). Congratulations to #108! :cheer2:

Awesome Rob..how cool is that. Your daughter won the family a cruise. Ya know you will never hear the end of it....lol
How hard was it for you in the audience watching her????
Do you remember any of her questions?

CONGRATS....to both Rob's daughter and number 108.

Lori

(Sharon I knew you would catch this thread too....talk to you soon.)

Who said I was in the audience? ;)

Actually, since she is under 10 years of age, she was allowed to invite her mother or father down to help her. For some reason she chose me. I was standing right beside her the entire time and was much more nervous than she was. I was not allowed to give answers on her behalf to the host, but she was allowed to consult with me as much as she wanted within the normal time constraints. It was fun, especially when she had to say some of the answers like Kinesiology. Probably one of the best "bonding moments" we ever had. She played like a pro, using the time wisely to discuss/think out the answers but never letting it run out on us.

After the initial shock wore off, I made a point to try to remember as many questions and choices as possible. Remarkably, I was able to reconstruct every question, albeit with a few of the answer choices missing. Her million point question asked her what the best description was of an "immelmann manuever". Unfortunatley, since I pretty much immediately decided that two of the choices didn't seem likely, I only recall the other two. The choices that I recall were Chess move and aerial acrobatic.
