Over here at my folks' house there's a theater playing older movies at an old style theater.

We saw Raiders Of The Lost Ark! We sat up in the balcony since I can't ever remember being in a theater with a balcony. It was $4 for adults, $2 for kids & $1 for fresh popped popcorn. Sunday they're showing Disney's Tarzan. Other movies they're going to be showing are Citizen Kane, Mary Poppins, Chocolat & Swiss Family Robinson.

It was pretty fun & I really hope they rerelease it in theaters for the 25th anniversary! :)

Thats soo cool! there used to be one of those kind of theaters over by my house, but it closed down about 5 years ago.

Ticket prices are soo much these days.. $9, or $7.50 if you have a school ID. GRRR  i remember paying $5 for a REGULAR movie at night, i know that is nothing compared to like the 50cent ones years ago hehe.. but now its too much!!!

so buy discount tickets (4.50 - 5.50 ish) or see matinees (5.50 around here)....

sounds cool, jeff! :) glad you had fun.

And, you didn't invite me? ;) My co-Indy Fan? :) That sounds like a neat theater!

How 'bout 2 (or more) tics to Tarzan? I LOVE the music!!

Sadly, I remember them all too well but, the 'ropes' were always in place. I now very much enjoy seats in the balconies of the old theaters, provided I don't have to get up and WALK in the dark during the movie!

Glad you enjoyed Raiders, Again! :)

Yeah it was a blast! Everyone clapped at the end. It was kind of like rediscovering the movie in a way. Lots of people who may not have seen it (deprived) gasped at some parts & laughed at funny parts.

Let's see on ticket prices $7.50 is the going rate around here & $5-5.50 for students. I still use my college ID (hey, I'm gonna take a class in the fall!) LOL. We still have $1.50 theaters around & they're actually pretty nice (ours has 10 screens I believe).

This one had bathrooms right by the balcony seats, so I would have had to walk about maybe 30 ft to get there & walk up like 5 steps. Not bad at all IMO. BTW where did your Indy pic go? ...And you call yourself an Indy fan! ;)

Tell you what, if you can make TX by Sunday you can catch Tarzan. :)

I'm Still Glad you had fun!!!:) :)

You could walk to Texas...I'm sure it would be less painful ;)

Busting a gut, Jeff! You're right! But, sometimes they pull off some remarkable 'late innings' games!!

As for Indy, my 4-1/2yo DD knows Enough about Indy to keep this family in anticipation for the next movie!!! Besides DS, The MAJOR fan around my house AND, I have my baby bro who started the whole 'mess'!!

Indy & Star Wars, hmmmm, ya think Harrison Ford has ANYTHING to do with this???!!;)

LOL.

Don't worry, anyone who is close to a Gen Xer or has kids that were Gen X totally understand about Indy & Star Wars. :)

HA! The problem is, I know about ALL these movies! (Is my DS really a Gen X ~ now that, I worry about!) (And DD, is she doomed to the same fate?)

j/k

I LOVE those movies and, besides the DISNEY Channel and PBS and Nick, sometimes, I'm kid-ready!

BUT, I prefer Indy & Star Wars!!! jmo ;)

We have a wonderful movie theatre here in D.C. that is old style, with the balcony, called the Uptown. I love seeing movies there, although sadly, the prices are no different than regular movie theatres.

I loved Indiana Jones. You've got me wanting to go rent that movie, my kids have never seen it. I bet they would love it. Thanks for the idea.

OOOOOH MAN!!! Seeing Raiders in the theatres again would be as good as, if not better than, seeing it on DVD!!!

There's an old theatre here in Richmond that shows second run movies and I just looked. No Indiana Jones movies, but they are showing Gremlins as a midnight movie this weekend.

I gotta keep my eyes open for a Raiders release.

I haven't been in a theater with a balcony in twenty years. I remember it was a double feature, Road Warrior and Conan: The Barbarian :)

The last theaterical double feature I saw was Goonies & Rambo II.

I recently saw The New Guy & Big Trouble at a drive in, but until then the last one I'd seen was Lion King & Forrest Gump. :)

Wish we had a theatre like that one near me, I'd go to the movies more often :)
