Savor the Savanna timing question

I'm going to be booking the Savor the Savanna tour for my (71 year old) mom and I (43) as a birthday gift to her. We'll be going on 4/2. There are two times offered - 5:00 and 6:15.

The day we're doing it, we'll actually be at the Magic Kingdom that day. (I know, I know...but it just fit in our plans best this day.) The last thing we have planned at MK is the FoF parade at 3:00.

We're not fast walkers (well, one of us isn't - LOL) so I was planning to book the 6:15 tour. But the more I think about it, I'm thinking the 5:00 would work just as fine. We'll be watching the parade from the reserved area near the flag pole, so we'll already be near the park exit when the parade is over.

So what say you, oh wise ones? Would we feel rushed trying to get to a 5:00 tour at AK after the MK parade? If you were us, would you do the 5:00 or 6:15? Those who have done the tour, is one time better over the other for some reason? I change my mind about a hundred times a day so thought I'd get some opinions on the matter!

Well, if the parade starts at 3:00 it'll take time to get to your location, so it could be close to 4:00 by the time you leave the park and then have to deal with transportation.

I would do the 6:15. The 5pm seems like it might be cutting it a little too close.

What time is sunset the day you're planning on going? When we went a couple years ago, watching sunset on the savanna was a highlight!

JMHO, but I'd do the 6:15. Parade will get you around 3:25. You'll be done with it by 3:50 or so. You're near the exit, so no need to rush, but the crowd can be a bit 'thick' right after the parade... The walk to the buses (always FEELS far, but it's not too bad even at a slower pace). Still, it's a time eater. Waiting for the bus to AK and the ride to AK is undeterminable. You might as well enjoy your experience and take your time getting out of the park. Buy popcorn!

If you want the earlier reservation, you can Uber from mk to ak. That should get you there on time.

FWIW, check the time they expect you to check in for the tour. It probably won't be 5:00 or 6:15. Most of those type of tours check in at least 15 minutes prior to tour start and the check in location is near the entrance to the Safari attraction. That's near the back of the park (as you know) & quite a long walk from where the the buses drop off. I'd want to be at the entrance turnstiles no later than 20 minutes prior to check in time in order to make it back there without rushing. FWIW, I'd go with the 6:15 tour and save myself the stress.
