"Savings" for Undercover Tourist or ParkSavers inaccurate?

Just curious as I start to shop around for discount tickets which I can convert into AP, but it seems the "savings" they list don't match up with what WDW shows on their website. For example....

WDW ticket site:

UT says save $37 vs adult gate price. But I'm seeing UT price as $538/ticket for an adult and buying from WDW direct is $520 ticket. What am I missing? Is this something where I have to do a ton of research and verification on the savings being advertised by UT/PS? Not trying to bash them at all, but just confused by what I see.

Make sure the prices include taxes. UT prices include taxes up front. I don't think Disney prices do.

Darn Uncle Sam get you every single time, one way or another ;)

Disney's total is $553.80

And, I'm not sure they've updated all their "savings" following the price increase. Or which tickets they are selling (expire in 2018 or not). Worth asking them

Funny enough, I just asked them this question last week because I want to renew my AP in May. I'm considering buying UCT tickets to do so and wanted to calculate what my savings would be. Here's the response I received:

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee what the print date will be on the tickets, as Disney prints and provides all of our tickets to us, so I am not sure if the date would be before or after the the Feb 12th date. I apologize that we could not be more help.

Got it, taxes. But it still isn't accurate when it lists the "savings" over gate price, so I guess I'll have to do all the math to try to figure out what the true savings is and what ticket offers the best savings over gate price. Would be nice if they (UT or PS) would do that and make it accurate. If WDW is actually $553.80, that's roughly $15/ticket. Believe me, I'm not turning it down, but it's not as good of a deal as the $37/ticket savings they advertise.

I believe you also need to factor in the extra $21.30 that is now charged at the gate for 3 day and up tickets. You get a "discount" buying them in advance. Adding that to your $15 brings the savings up to about $37. Check Mousesavers for their chart of current prices including tax.

We have used UT before, and always found discounts to be accurate.

I believe that you also save buying tickets online from Disney over the gate price ($20 on a ticket of 3 days or more). So, UT is comparing to gate price, not internet price.

Ah...makes sense. Now I'm clear, thanks! We always buy the tickets in advance, even when we bought direct from WDW, so I'll have to be sure to compare apples to apples. Thanks!!

Because of the above info in blue, you can't be sure of your savings until you get the tickets. The price to bridge will vary by which ticket you get

(found the answer to my question! Thanks to AngiTN on another thread (re bridging post 2/12 tix))
