*** savings account ????

ING has been around since 1991 but the online banking concept is pretty recent. I think I received my "invitation" to join in August or September of last year. I put off joining until November.

They're headquartered in Wilmington, DE and they market pretty aggressively in the Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York areas.

You may remember some of their commercials that would show someone or something blocking part of their ad with only the ING showing and frustrated observers trying to find out what was being obscured from view. In the end, the bus moves out of the way or a lady gets up from the park bench and you see that nothing was hidden. They are just 'ING'.

I just love this place! I'm working on a suprise christmas trip so this is where I'm hiding it! LOL

I am using mine for a surprise trip - we are planning for February but if I can save enough we may have a small trip sooner!!

Has anyone else had problems moving paypal money to their ING account? I tried to hook up my ING to my papypal account for a transfer and ING rejected it. Am I doing omething wrong?

I've always moved the money from PayPal into my checking account and from there it goes into the ING account. It certainly takes a while to accomplish this but PayPal is not a regular bank so I get the feeling that you may not be able to move the funds directly between PayPal and ING because of that.

I just joined!!!:Pinkbounc I've been wanting to open savings accounts for my kids, I can't wait to refer them.
Thanks again mad4themouse!

OK, how about this?

I am too dumb to figure out how to do joint accounts.

DH (with my help :teeth: ) tried to open an account today and tried to have me be the joint account holder.

No matter what I did and what information that put in, it was not what they wanted. (SS#, pin, etc.) So I ended up just signing up for an individual account.

So what do I do when I try to open my DD's accounts? They are not over 16, so cannot have their own account.

Can anyone help me? I feel like I am being very stupid here...

Thanks for the info about PayPal. I now have enough (about $100 ) in my account to transfer it to somewhere that makes interest. Thats the great thing about this account, it makes a decent rate of interest without requiring minimum balances, minimum transaction amount, and no transaction fees! I'm just looking at an ad for a CD in our local paper that pays 2.05% interest, but its for a minimum balance of $10,000. We also just had our income tax refund deposited into this account, so now it looks impressive. We did make around $400 from bonuses, referrals, etc. Hope to still make more. It all adds up!

Not stupid...just confused. It took me 3 tries to set up DD's account!

After you click on "open an account" you should be taken to a page where you enter all the basic info for the primary account holder (name, address, ssn# and PIN). That would be your child's info. On that same page, about 2/3 of the way down on the right is a box to check if you want to make this a joint account. Check it.

Continue to enter your security question and answer and then click the "continue" button on the bottom of the page.

On the next page, you should be able to enter your ING customer number, your PIN and whatever security number they're asking for (first 4 digits of your SSN, 5-digit zip code, etc.). Enter your information here. Keep in mind that your customer number is not the same thing as your account number! Click the blue "continue" button under that box. DO NOT FILL IN THE INFORMATION FOR "NEW JOINT APPLICANT". This would only be used if you did not already have an ING account.

This should link your ING account and the checking account that it is linked with to your children's savings accounts without you having to re-enter the routing numbers, bank name and all that other stuff.

I hope I made this a little clearer. Once I got DD's account set up, doing DS's was a breeze.

Thanks so much, mad4themouse!!! :) I will be sure to have these instuctions open when I go to open their accounts.

Now I just have to wait until they forward me their referrals. I sent them to their own e-mail addresses so that there would not be any question about this from ING. :)

I have opened my account and now want to open accounts for my DH and DD's. Do I have to send the referrals to a different email address or can they come to mine?

Also DD's are 10 and 3 so they can't have their own accounts, right? Can I be on their accounts or will it not work since I have an account already? I'm very confused with all this. Thank you in advance, Christine

Christine,
you can send the referrals to your email address and you will
have to be a joint account holder with your children.
Maryann :)

Christine, the same email address can be used for all accounts, and your daughters can have their own accounts, but you will have to be a joint acct. holder.

lol, that's ok Terri :) I figured someone else would post but, that's what we're here for to help people out :)
Maryann :)

Thanks for the help ladies. This is the best site ever with the best people. I can't believe all the great information I get here.

Has anyone taken money out of this account? I know you have to wait 30 days to get the bonus money but after that have you had any problems getting to it. TIA :thewave: April

No, I have never had any problems taking the money out and having it go to the checking account. It technically takes about three days, but I have found it to go just a bit faster.

Sorry to be repetitive but I just want to make sure I am doing things right. When I sign up for my DD's I just use the referal email and sign me up as the joint account holder using my current ING information. This will link my bank account to her ING account and I will still get the referal bonus?
