We are going for four nights in Feb. Can I purchase a pkg with 10 day tickets and save them for a later trip? I have other tickets with less days we could use.

No. Tickets expire 14 days after first use, even with unused days.

ETA Are you saying you'll purchase 10 day tickets but not use them for this trip? Yes, that is possible.

Yes. As soon as your tickets become "active" on your check-in date, reassign/move all the 10-day tickets to a fake person/Ticket Saver in your MDE.

They'll remain safe there until you reassign for a future trip.

You can, but, unless you are purchasing a free dining package that mandates a ticket purchase, why purchase tickets if you aren't going to use them?

Thank you for your answers. Yes, we will save them for a 9 day trip in Nov. It just looks like it would be less to go ahead and get 10 day instead of a four or five day ticket and use the 10 later. I already have enough five day tickets for this trip. I don't know, maybe I am making this too complicated for little difference in cost.

Wait don't tickets now have an expiration date anyway even if you haven't used them yet? Like a year or 18 mos out? I thought I read that at one time, just want to confirm.

No, not if they are unused. They no longer sell the "non-expiring" tickets that were good even after being partially used. The one-day tickets that are now priced by the seasons are also only good for the time they are bought for. Unused, multi-day tickets are theoretically good forever.

It's probably a smart move. It's likely there will be a price increase between now and your next trip, so you would probably end up saving some money by buying the 10-day with the package now. Are the tickets you have non-expires that you've already used days from or are they 5-day base or hoppers? If the 5-day tickets you have have never been used, have you calculated the cost of simply upgrading to AP's? Might be cheaper than purchasing the 10-day tickets.

Only 1 day tickets expire and even then you can apply the value of that ticket to the purchase of a new one.

^ so I can buy tickets today and save them for a trip 5 years from now (totally made up for an example) and they'll still be good to use in the future?

Yes. That's why people pre-purchase before a ticket increase goes into effect,

Yes. There have been cases of people finding unused tickets from 20 years ago and they can use them. You do have to visit guest services in person to get them converted to current media, but Disney will honor them.

I would double check with Disney before doing this. If it is a stand alone ala carte ticket along with a alacarte room only then yes for sure. In the past if it was a special package deal they were automatically active with your trip and expired when it was over, so no choosing not to use. For me to be safe Id just go alacarte and buy from a good ticket seller buy that 10 day and save for upcoming. if you ask for a 10 day along with a 4 day trip that will be ala carte anyway Im thinking...and then becomes cheaper to go to a trusted ticket seller like undercover tourist.

Well I thought I read a few years ago when they were discontinuing the non expiring tickets they were making all tickets have an expiration date whether you used them or not. I was thinking a year or year and half after purchase. I thought that stunk because it always helped our family to buy one here and there and save them up for our next trip. If that is not the case they I will advise people I know to buy tickets when they have extra money and save them for their future trips. Thanx :-)

They discontinued selling the "non expiring" tickets that were still good indefinitely even after being partially used. That was always the meaning of "non-expiring" in Disney parlance. Unused tickets were unchanged, excepting the single day ones as mentioned above.

You're welcome. Just let your friends know that unused multi-day tickets don't expire. After entering the park, the multi-day ticket will expire in 14 days.

A Fake Person in MDE is a good place to "store" tickets until you need to reassign them for a future trip.

We purchased a package for June with free dining and 6 day park hoppers. We currently have AP's, that will be active thru July. Right now the 6-day park hoppers say "non-transferable Paperless Tickets that are expired, in-use or that were purchased as part of a package cannot be assigned to anyone else. Only the owner of a ticket may assign it to another Guest". Are you saying that on the day we check in, those tickets will change state to a transferable ticket? I already have fake MDE people that I have transferred some other tickets to.

Technically the one days don't expire, they just need to be upgraded to the current price paying the difference. If they price doesn't change or go down, they are still valid with no additional cost to get into the park after a year..

example of goes down: peak priced 1 day being used years later as a value season which is a lower cost so the increase may not go over the purchased price by the time you use them.

Yes. "Packaged" tickets are inactive until check-in date. If you arrive up to 10 days prior to your check-in date, you can have your tickets activated and then reassign them before entering Park#1.

It's the package itself that opens the FP booking window, not the inactive tickets.
