Saving money by using credit cards

Found credit card question:

While at a Walmart parking lot, someone finds a Costco AMEX credit card.

Which should they do?

1. Bring it into the Walmart
2. Call the toll free number on the back of the card to report it found
3. Wait 3.5 weeks until you go by Costco and give it to them

I got a call last night from Costco that someone had found my CC in the parking lot.
I guess they skipped the part that they found it over 3 weeks ago!
In the meantime, I had canceled it immediately and nothing was charged. At least they were honest!

I'd definitely keep it and call the credit card company 800# on the back. I don't like turning stuff in at the counter. I think it's more likely to get lost, again, there. I can't believe someone kept it for 3 weeks then called you.... I guess they kept procrastinating.

I just wanted to add that with the Chase Freedom card, you are allowed to have two of them per person. That really helps elleminate the spending caps in the 5% bonus cat.

We just got a Chase Freedom with a $300 bonus for signing up and spending $500 in the first 3 months. We spent that much the first day!

Anyway.....how do you get the 10% bonus points?

The 10% bonus points is for Chase checking customers. If you have a Chase checking account you get the 10% bonus. That's how I get mine.... not sure if there is an additional way to take advantage of this.

i have a chase Checking - when i receive my new card in the mail i will call to confirm i get an extra 10% bonus...

Does anyone have this card? We applied for it as I like the unlimited 3% cash back at supermarkets, 2% at gas stations, and 1% on all other purchases, ALL the time, not just quarterly specials. But when I received the paperwork it states "redemption of rewards will be in the form of a statement credit whenever your reward dollar balance is 25 or more. From time to time we MAY at our option offer you other ways to redeem reward dollars such as for gift cards or merchandise". I prefer the cash or gift cards rather than a deduction from my bill. Anyone have experience with this card? They're offering $100 cash back after spending $1,000 within the first 3 months of card membership. ~~

Regardless of the cash back/rewards, I actually save more money being totally cashless and using credit card only.

If I have cash in my wallet, I WILL spend it, and I'll spend it fast, lol. Credit cards keep me disciplined and on budget.



I'm the opposite. If I have the $3 in cash, I WILL spend it even if I'm not really craving McDonalds. If my wallet is empty except for my credit card, I will mostly likely bypass McDonalds, lol.

I'm the same way, if I have cash (which I rarely get anymore) it just kind of "disappears"! I have a really hard time figuring out where it went. Credit cards, on the other hand, allow me to see exactly where my money is going. I have a budget and keep a budget book, and haven't noticed credit cards affect how much I spend. And I think not having cash makes me tend to bypass the small purchases like McD's, since I don't like using my credit card for small amounts (just feels silly).

McDonalds hates people like me. I could have $500 in one dollar bills and 10 credit cards with me and I would still order from the dollar menu.
At least now that the drinks are also a dollar, I get one of those. In the past I would just order the dollar burger.
