I was looking at our cable TV/Internet bill today ($171 a month!) and wondering if there was any to lower it. I noticed there was a sports package on there for $8.95 a month that I know we haven't been using so I decided to at least cancel that. So I called the company and started going through each of our selections with the rep. She said they had a few packages available for a lot less if we were willing to switch from AT&T to their phone service. We've been paying around $50 a month for our home phone service. DH and I had been thinking about looking into the cable company's phone service so I wasn't against switching. The rep. found me a package that included the cable/HDTV/DVR/Internet package we already have, plus phone service with unlimited long-distance. The total monthly cost is $150, a savings of $71 per month. If we make our first 3 payments on time (which we always do), they'll send us a $150 Visa giftcard. That card will promptly be put into our Disneyland fund for our trip next summer! I was thrilled to be able to get the bill down. I think our cell phone bill will be the next target!
