I just put in a bid for another (small) AKL contract. This would be our fifth, though admittedly most of our contracts are small or small-ish. Help, I can't seem to stop myself...

I'm telling myself that we're DONE -- at least until Reflections and/or the Disneyland Tower, ha ha ha. But my husband just mentioned he'd love to own at Aulani, and what did I think about owning at the Polynesian...? I told him we can use our points at both those resorts, and reminded him that we really don't NEED more points...

Take a look at your last bills for annual dues. And then look at the cost of dues for the new contract. That total always cures me of the need to add on more points.

Maybe this won’t cure you but might help hold it at bay for now - with the coronavirus fears and predictions of economic doom and gloom (including the stock market jitters), if you wait a bit and things go further south, there might be some great resale deals to be had. So maybe hold off on buying for now. Or even direct incentives might improve - Aulani isn’t moving so well!

Funny we had 5 contracts totaling 376 its,but decided to sell off 2 contracts totaling 86 points to pay for a new HVAC system. No regrets although I'd love to have those points back:)

Yeah, I just bought another house, so that’s put a halt to my DVC acquisition phase at the moment, at least until I sell my other house. Even if I had not bought the house, DVC’s new restrictions has soured me a bit on the product. Now if we stay in stock market bear territory for awhile and prices for DVC dip as they did last time, I may ‘need’ to add a few more VGF points - just to balance out my DVC portfolio:cool1:

If I weren't already too deep in, I would back out of the contract I'm buying. I think these things are going DOWN in value if the market keeps dropping, and some deals to be had if things get worse.

Start watching prices. You have to know the market to know when it is moving.

I tend to agree with @RoseGold. Expect resale prices to remain stagnant or drop in the next few months. I’d like to add on now, too. But I’m going to sit tight.

Did you just buy some resale?! I agree with the others. Maybe wait and see if the market drops a bit. But I certainly can't blame you for wanting to add on more!

We did just buy some resale - and my intent is to hold off on any more add-ons as we want to see what Reflections will bring. But it’s an excellent point that prices may be dropping soon... though I confess I’m really hoping we don’t go into TOO much of an economic downturn!

I guess adding on depends on how many points you currently own, the size of your family, accommodations you like, season you travel and how often you want to visit.

We have been holding for quiet a few years now. My two sons own small contracts but I am always contributing. My daughter recently got married and just asked me if I had any "extra points" :). I think of adding on again and then change my mind. I have put in two offers recently that did not work out but still on the fence about what to do.......

Traveling plans/patters will definitely change......only you know where you stand with your points. The MF bill is also a nice reminder to me that "maybe we have enough" :scared:

so I am so with you!!! i have had such addonitis! this product is totally addicting.

We are just starting to look for our first contract through resale at BWV, and I am already thinking that having another smaller contract for BLT to attend D23 Destination D every other year would be nice :sad2: It does seem a little addictive, like gambling. However, at least you are guaranteed to have something to show for it with DVC, as opposed the bigger risks of gambling.

I forgot to add, was your offer accepted? If so, good luck with ROFR!

It does turn a corner eventually. We bought for two bedrooms every other year. Now we are almost empty nesters I can see us using 1 bedrooms once every 3 years at most we can't see us using all our points. We have just sold 115 points and won't miss them.

Minniesgal; I'm curious why you will be using less points as empty-nesters??
We are empty-nesters, and about to be retired, and we need more points!! :D

Because we no longer need 2 bedrooms we have gone to 1 bedrooms. We can go for as many nights in a 1 bedroom as we want to and have too many points left. We are also able to go at cheaper times of year.

Also we fly long haul and I don't want to do that every year so we will not be going more often.

Same! I would totally back out and wait a few months
