SAVANNAH ROOMS

Hello everyone ~ looking for information on staying in a Savannah View Room at AKL. Wondering how often you really see the animals. My dream is to sit in the morning and have coffee on the balcony with a giraffe .

Honestly, 24/7. I remember waking up at 2:00am and my daughter and son were on the balcony watching a Giraffe eating a food bundle that the attendants had left in a tree for them. It’s one room category everyone should stay in at least once.

Also wondering if there is a certain section to request. I'm a little confused about the locations at AKL. We've visited the main building many times specifically to see the Savannah, but I understand there is the Jambo House area too. Can anyone please explain?

I had a savanna room in Kidani in May. Animals were always out and about, but I noticed that the giraffes tended to hang out near the lobby area most of the time. It was uncommon for them to walk by the area outside my room. I remember the animals were fed around 4-5 pm-ish in the afternoon and sometime before 8 in the morning so they are very active around those times. Here are some pics I took from my balcony.

I had what was classified as a standard 1 bedroom, not a Savannah view. Here was my view





Note the fence areas. Those are called people pens, it is where the people on that side of the building would be evacuated to were it necessary. Thus, the non-Savannah view.

So the main building IS Jambo house. Kidani is the other building and is all DVC units. Also, Floors 5&6 at Jambo are DVC. The best Savanna is the Arusha Savanna. Thats the main one when you walk out from the lobby. The others are the Sunset and Uzima. If you want a guaranteed Arusha Savanna book club level (which very much worth if you use the amenities). The sunset Savanna typically has the fewest animals, at least ones that will come close to your room. All 3 have giraffes, other animals differ.
