Left HHI after 4 great nights and headed to Savannah for one night 6/10/10(thursday). We got there in about 45 minutes. Tried to check-in at Sheraton 4 Points in historic distric at around 10am, but room was not ready. we walked to river st and joined the Historic Savannah tour and this was a first for us seeing all the historic distrinct by trolley. Beautiful and guide was great! They even had an actor who looked just like Forrest Gump get on at the stop near where they filmed him sitting on the park bench and he stayed in character and road with us for one stop and then we all shouted "run Forrest" as he headed up the street. Really fun. At 1pm we checked in (got off at the nearest stop to hotel) and then decided to walk around "Market" area and decide to check in and see if there would be anything at Lady & Sons for meal that day(they started giving same day reservations at 9:30am on the day) we got to podium and she said we could get in at 3pm. so we shopped around and returned at 2:30pm(this is what we were told) and were seated immediately. Its a huge place..we both had the buffet and it was very good with wonderful servers. Also spent alot of money in her store! Continued to shop around and then went back to hotel for a swim and decide what to do for dinner. We decided to drive out to Tybee Island around 7:30 but stopped at Uncle Bubba's oyster house instead..about a 10 minute wait. I had amazing shrimp, but I saw so many people with the char-grilled oyster platters..they looked yummy, but DH doesn't eat them and I couldn't do it alone. Nice meal, its right on the water so you can eat inside or outside. Just funny that this is our third trip to Savannah and we have not eaten at either of these before, but did them both in the 24 hours we were there! I love the beauty of Savannah!

Those are the two places we ate at when we were in Savannah last fall! Amazing fried chicken at Lady and Sons and at Uncle Bubbas we were on the Paula DeanTrolly tour, so we had a buffet of delicious low country food and got to try a char grilled oyster. We met a couple on the tour who didn't enjoy eating oysters and so they gave me theirs. I'm still in touch with this couple, that was a very nice gesture! They happen to live in NJ and I'm making plans to meet them in Cape May this summer!
