I hope (I know there must be) someone out there that can give me an idea of the BEST savanah and the best trail (of rooms) at AKL! It will be our first time staying at this resort and we are so excited! My son is an animal lover an I want to make sure he has a extra-special trip! Thanks in advance.

I like second floor for Arusha because it has a more trees on it and the foliage can get in the way of viewing at times. 2nd floor lets you see completely across the savanna without this issue.

Uzima has less trees and I have been on the 4th floor of it and had no issues.

Sunset...well, currently it has a lot of CRANES on it if you get the wrong area. Personally, I like the girraffes and zebras as opposed to the CRANES so I would stick with Uzima and Arusha.

And here is a recent trip report of mine complete with pictures, a menu and a map of the bad rooms.

We just came back last week from the Arusha Savannah view 2nd floor on the Zebra Trail. We chose this based on reviews we read. To be honest, it was a nice savannah, but seemed much emptier than the others.

Uzima was definately the busiest, animal-wise. If you are going to be there after the construction is complete, you might try the Sunset Savannah-it looks like it's going to be fabulous once it's completed.

I included sample pics from each savannah in my recent trip report if you are interested (see post #9):

The pic I posted from the Zebra trail was the busiest we saw it and most of the animals were far away throughout our trip. From my observations last week, best views seem to be (in order):

1. Uzima
2. Arusha on the KUDU trail
3. Arusha on the zebra trail
4. Sunset (the construction right now makes it an eye sore for pictures)

I was told by a CM that they rotate the animals so that you will not always see the same ones on the same savannas. Not sure if it was true, but something to keep in mind.

Also, the various savannas are fenced off from each other so the animals can't do a migration while you are there. They do take some of them back to the pens at night and for checkups so that also may be a reason for something disappearing on you.
