Would you choose Kidani or Jambo?

I will be there celebrating my 30th birthday and spending the 1st half of my trip in a 1 bedroom at SSR.

I want to see the best Christmas decorations and best animals all at once.

I would do Jambo, the lobby is more impressive. Studios are about the same size at either.

thanks!
I stayed at Jambo last Sept and it was AMAZING. Hubby wanted to try Kidani since we've never stayed there but I figured the lobby would be decorated more at Jambo since it's a cash hotel section. At least, that is what I've heard.

It's not so much about the cash hotel section, the Jambo lobby is much bigger, allowing for a huge tree. Kidani's lobby is small.

I would stay at Jambo house. We just got back and we stayed at Kidani. I found it too far from everything. If you want to get something to eat, you really have to get in your car and travel or take a bus, whereas at Jambo there ios mara, Boma, Saana and a much cooler pool. I really loved waking up and seeing the zebras and giraffes fro,m the balcony it was totally worth having the savannah view. I would not stay at Kidani again, though because it was too far from everything.

We also ate at Saana, it was not our favorite at all. Problem with AKL Kidani is all the room service is pretty much Saana unless you order from the kids menu. At least at Jambo house you can go to Mara to get something other than Saana food which we did not care for.

I'll be the one who says stay at Kidani. You can always take 5 minutes and walk over (or take the bus if you're lazy) and see the decor at Jambo. I just feel like the savanna views are so much nicer at Kidani. I also prefer the cultural offerings at Kidani as well.

Jambo definitely has the more impressive Christmas tree if that is important. It is great walking to the lobby and looking at that tree from the 5th floor railing.

I guess if you eat in Jambo a few times you could experience both by staying in Kidani looking at theor decor then walk or take the shuttle van to Jambo and see their decorations.

For my annual early December trip, I always stay at Jambo House. For me personally I love the hustle bustle of the lobby and the tree is just gorgeous. It just feels like Christmas to me.

Thanks everyone!
I enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy lobby. It feels more like Christmas to me. I'm also getting my nice relaxing section of the vacation out of the way at SSR. My home resort is gorgeous and perfect for relaxing and welcoming my "old age" ;)

I also have a wait list for the entire stay at Wilderness Lodge but I'm wondering if I should jut cancel the wait list and keep what I have?

I stayed at the DVC Wilderness Lodge in 2008 and wasn't crazy about it - but only because it is so disconnected from the actual Lodge. Again, that's what I absolutely love AKV - Jambo House; you are part of the main resort area. The main lobby at Wilderness Lodge is gorgeous at Christmas, but unless you have a car and intentionally go out of your way every time you leave the resort, you don't really experience it like you do AKV - Jambo.

Yes the lobby of AKL is impressive at Christmas. Kidani has a good sized tree in their lobby and for an extra bonus the beautiful Christmas tree in the library by the fire. Both locations are wonderful. I prefer Kidani.

Yes jambo has the huge lobby BUT its also a lot noiser. Imagine how busy jambo will be christmas time. The walk over to jambo is not bad. AKL kidani is my home resort. You can also take any park bus over to jambo house. I would rather have the peace and quiet of kidani over having everything at the resort.

PS You can see the giraffes and zebras better from kidanis lobby viewing area then jambo houses.

Subbing. :) We're staying April 2013, and I can't decide between Kidani & Jambo. We've never stayed at AKV. We stayed at VWL several years ago, and one of my biggest regrets is that we didn't get to enjoy the main WL lobby very much at all. For that reason, I kinda dig the idea of staying at Jambo. But I'm enjoying hearing all the input on this thread! :thumbsup2

Are you staying in a studio or a 1 or 2 BR? If you are staying in 1 or 2 BR, Kidani......extra bathroom. At Jambo the rooms are on the 5 and 6 floors. I prefer Kidani. Its quieter.
