OK, say you wanted dinner at Flying Fish on a mid-February (pre-Presidents wknd) trip - are Saturday nights crazy at the Boardwalk? Not just at FF, but just general crowds - do a lot of locals come to the Boardwalk on a Saturday night? Or are the crowds in mid-Feb pretty much the same whether it's a weekend or week night?

It may be somewhat crowded but I would definitely not call it packed. The only place that does get really jammed is espn for a big sporting event or jellyrolls.

No, I don't think it's packed, pretty light crowds. Even during more peak seasons, I've never seen the Boardwalk area really crowded, except ESPN Zone during sporting events as mentioned above. I've been able to to get a walk-in table at FF easily - and you can always eat at the bar too, which has a great atmosphere.

Mid Feb non holiday anything is pretty slow. As PP's have said, ESPN can get slammed during a big game, but that's about it.
Still, I would try to secure an ADR for FF if possible, if you wanted to dine there. We have not seen much success with walk-ins, but we usually have an ADR to be safe.

I think you might think that the boardwalk is a lot bigger or more of a "boardwalk" like at a local ocean side place with a LOT going on. Yes there are some games and an occasional street performer but I don't think it's something a local would come out of their way for. I haven't been in Feb but its never that crowded at night.

FF might be booked for a saturday or any night so I would make sure you had an ADR.

I think you may be right. ;) I've stayed at/eaten at BC on previous trips, but never actually walked over to the Boardwalk at night.

Thanks to all for your responses. I will definitely be making an ADR for FF when my 180+10 gets here; I just wondered if I would regret trying to walk around the B'walk on a busy night.

During my two stays at the Boardwalk Inn from August 2010 and December 2010, no matter what day it was everytime I walked past the Flying Fish during the dinner hours they were always packed.

The boardwalk is 1 place we haven't made it to on our 2 previous trips to WDW....just not enough time. Since we are driving this time, we will be arriving the night before we check into CSR & thought it might be a great time to check it out. Can we park at 1 of the BoardWalk resorts & walk over?

I have never experienced the boardwalk to be too packed at any time!!....crowded a bit, but never uncomfortable

you can valet park for $10, and just walk down the stairs and you are there
