Saturday crowds

Saturday was absolutely insane at DL. I imagine the rain Friday kept some home and then made Sat even busier than it would have been due to the approaching end of the 2fer promotion and shorter hours on Sunday.

I thought I heard someone in a line say that they stopped selling tickets for some time. Does anyone know if this was the case? If not, I am very curious to hear from some in-the-know people how the crowds compared to an average busy summer day. I can't imagine 3 days in a crowd like that. Fortunately for us, we had seen pretty much all we wanted at DL. DCA wasn't as busy and we saw all that we wanted there.

You should have seen DCA on Sunday night. around 5PM, it was INSANE... Then it rained and ELP got cancelled. Chaotic!

It was a stressful night -_-

Were you there on Saturday, Albort? I was looking for you at every cart I passed! I'm just really curious for future planning how the crowds compared to "typical" crowds since I don't attend enough to have a concept.

We were there on Sat too and I agree. I haven't seen it that crazy in many years (we usually go during the slow season). Even the train had a line! We left DL around 3, walked DTD and then went into DCA. I felt DCA was crazy busy too though - I've never seen it like that!

Thanks, Susan. You said you usually go during slow season, but have you been recently in the summer or any peak season to compare crowds?

Albort, I missed that you said the ELP was canceled on Sunday night. You know I was so naive to think the ELP would happen antyime. We showed up Friday night asking about the possibility of fireworks to be told that the ELP was at risk. Makes sense once it was explained about the safety of the performers, but I had no idea. I can only imagine what it must have been like Sunday night with everyone at DCA.

Sorry, we haven't been in the summer in years (when I was in college in So Cal we would go on Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc and I felt this was as busy as then, but we are talking 10 years ago or so.

Aside from last week, our most busy time was in 2005 during Columbus week and during a large convention. It was very busy, fast passes gone by the afternoon, etc. That was as bad as last Sat. but I hear that Saturdays are becoming very busy no matter what time of year it is. We are very spoiled going in the off-season!

Friday was really nice, despite the rain. It poured on Friday, and I think that most people stayed out of the parks because of it. We didn't have to wait for anything.
