:confused3This is probably a vague post, but I have no clue about satellite radio and was thinking of buying a radio and need tons of advice. I would prefer something that can be totally portable. Play either in car, home or while running. Is this a possible option? How hard are they to program? To install? Do you need a docking station? As you can see, I know nothing, could you please offer any and all advice. Thank you

I have an old XM radio style. I am able to move it from the house to the car. I have a CD/AM-FMRadio/XMRadio boom box and a set up in the car. DBF did the car, which did require some wiring. There is no programming required, just setting the antenna in the correct direction. Do a search - I used to get my stuff at Circuit City - and you'll find lots of options in sizes. The main web site for XM and Sirrus can explain more.

The only one that you can take running with you is the Sirius Stiletto. I have the Stiletto2 and absolutely love it! You can buy an external memory card and use it like an MP3 player also. You can also set it up to record any channel, for instance if you like Oprah or Howard Stern you can record the show. You have to buy a separate car dock and home dock if you wanted to listen to it in the car/home. It's not hard to program at all, it's just like your car radio where you can set certain channels up as presets. I will say that it's not the greatest of technology, sometime I do have to completely reboot it and I've dropped it and broke the internal antenna on it so in order for me to listen to it outdoors I have to use the antenna headphones that come with it. Not a big deal but they are definitely bigger than your typical earbuds. I got mine from best buy and for an additional fee ($45 when I bought it) you can get a 4 year warranty on the radio which I def. recommend because they do have a tendency to go bad, especially if you use it all day long like I do. But if they cannot fix it or they no longer carry that particular radio they will give you the full money you paid toward a new radio (that's how I got the stiletto). If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I've had 2 different radio's, my father has had 2 different radio's so I know a bit about them.

I am an XM subscriber and I have had a totally portable radio for about five years. It's the Pioneer Inno. I absolutely love it. You can dock it or just remove it for on the go. Put headphones in for walking about. For in the car, you just plug into the auxillary jack, just like an Ipod. You'll love satellite radio. PM me if you have any questions about the radio, or hooking up in the car. Also, it has a small bit of memory...1 or 2 GB, so you can save programs or songs to listen to later.

I have an old style XM roady, it's totally portable, works in a car on a fm station or can be "hardwired" or by a cassette (do any cars have those any more). It has a battery and can be recharged.

Beware, once you try satellite radio you will be hooked. It's not cheap, but the programming is pretty neat. I love the diversity of the programming. I call and complain telling them that I want them shut off, "they are just too expensive" then they either give me 3 free months or they give me a pay one time lower fee for 3 or so months.:hippie:
