Hi, I am the world's worst driver and navigator.:rolleyes1 I thought I'd get that out there straight away. I avoid going anywhere because I'm scared that I'll get lost - it is an irrational fear, but there it is. I have decided to do something about it, as I don't take the kids on long trips without DH because of this phobia.

So...I thought a Sat Nav might make me a bit braver / more intrepid. Can anyone recommend a decent one? I don't want anything too fancy, and I don't want to spend more than £100.

Any ideas recommendations?:)
TIA.

TomTom is probably the top brand. I use a model that includes USA maps but you should be able to pick up a UK only one for around £100.

Garmin is another manufacturer that pretty much specialise in GPS systems for cars, boats and planes so you should be OK with them.

Thanks.:thumbsup2 I'll start looking out for deals on Tom Tom and Garmin.

We have a Navman one which is very easy to use, I really like it. My mum has gone and bought a Garmin which admittedly I have only used once but its not as straightforward to use as the Navman, i'm sure I will get the hang of it eventually though.

I am a hopeless navigator and would be totally lost (quite literally ;) ) without my TomTom :thumbsup2

I can have driven somewhere half a dozen times and still get lost without it! :confused3

That's just like me! I used to live in Birmingham for 3 years and I still couldn't find my way there in the car without DH.

I have a relatively good sense of direction but do not leave home without trusty TomTom.

DW loves the fact that if roadworks or an accident force a change of route that she does not have to scurry to find the map :)

We have Europe and USA map and it has been a pleasure driving abroad.

I'm a truck driver so rely on my sat nav quite a lot. I use a Navman and have not been let down by it yet. However Tom Tom's are undoubtedly the best and probably easiest to use.

We have had a Garmin for the last 4 years now and have never had a problem with it.
As an alternative though have you got an iphone at all? Some of the sat nav apps you can get for free are just as good as any that cost up to £100.

Thanks everyone! I haven't got an iphone Kenny - my phone is ancient. I'm going to go up to Halfords next week and have a look at a couple and then see if I can get a deal online. :thumbsup2

Go for it Jools, when I think about the arguments weve had all over the world because of getting lost its the best money weve ever spent!

ps, we got a tom tom its great but I liked the garmin better, but both are good, I only wanted to tom tom cause I could add homer simpson voice for 12 quid :thumbsup2

Its funny, he says randon stuff.

Like "doh, was that an ice cream truck?"

I know.....it obviously doesnt take much to amuse me but there you go!

Omg I want the homer voice!!

We have Darth Vadar and Mr T but they are starting to get a bit old now so must invest in Homer what site did u download it from??

To The OP I have to say I love My tomtom for here and abroad and I have to say it has never let us down. I quite frequently put the wrong information in and then get annoyed that it has directed me to where i asked it to take me rather than where i wanted to go :lmao:

My dad has a Garmin and he says himself he wishes he had spent the extra few quid to get a tom tom as it is much easier to use x
