Sarcasticblonde's OFFICIAL Planning Journal!!! Updated with all pictures!

I love EVERYTHING:yay:

What variety are the blue flowers in your bouquet?

"The bouquet is made up of lavender roses, deep purple stock, and frilly
purple lisianthus"

That's the description from the website. I'm assuming the blue ones are the lisianthus.

I love everything!!! I'm so happy that you are going to use the parasols!!!

The inside of the china pavilion is gorgeous!

I know and I have YOU to thank for the parasol idea!!

DF and I went to Michaels earlier to see if we could find any more wedding ideas. I saw the bubbles that a lot of you were using and thought about getting some and then I remembered that Adam and I are having the confetti cannons at our ceremony! Those should be fun.

Adam's Family
First let me start off by saying a little something about my parents. They have been married 30+ years and are great people. Nice, accepting and you can talk to them about anything. They are those funny parents that will talk to you like you are an equal, not a "kid". They have liked Adam from the beginning and always treat him with respect.

I wish that was how Adam's family was. Adam is Jewish and I am not. I knew that was going to possibly be an issue. Also, Adam has a very strained relationship with his parents (moreso with his mother though). They have never gotten along because she is not a nice person and is very very controlling.

Since I met her, she has never been nice to me. She makes rude comments to put me down (basically, she thinks I am white trash because I didn't grow up in a rich Chicago suburb - Adam told me this). When they found out we were getting married, his parents never congratulated us, but immediately began telling us how, when and where we would be having our wedding - that we were paying for OURSELVES (P.S. We are both 24 year old ADULTS!!). I won't go into what the demands were, but it was basically everything against what we (or I) wanted.

We had originally planned on a 150 guest wedding and reception at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago, but they were turning it into a 250 guest affair that was to be a party for them and their friends. Here is a quote from them directly: "A wedding isn't for you. It is for your guests. 10 years from now, you aren't going to remember anything about your wedding." Wow...

We couldn't handle it anymore, so we decided to up and move it to Walt Disney World!!! :earsboy:

Coming next...The planning

Hi Lori!

I'm so excited to read about your plans! I LOVE the China Pavilion and I think the lighting will be spectacular! It's amazing how much it can transform a room!!!

I'm really sorry to hear about your MIL... I'm not sure if you've read my engagement story, but I've run into the same issues (except DF's parents used to be nice then turned evil!) We have yet to even tell them about our wedding plans!!! Oh well! Just have to remember that your wedding is about you and DF and certainly not about your parent's friends having a party!!!!

If you ever need someone to complain to about the family mess, we're all here for you!! It's comforting to know that there are others in similar situations out there!

I am looking forward to following your planning journal! Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

Wow, everything looks fantastic! I love all the purple. I had briefly looked into a custom wedding and had my heart set on the China pavilion... maybe for our vow renewal somewhere down the line :)

everything looks so beautiful! The china pavlion looks great! Are you sure you can hang the lanterns from the ceiling? I know they sometimes have restrictions on what can be done in certain areas. Even if you can't it will look great!

Oh, man! This purplegirl is sooooo jealous! I've been drooling over the pictures in your journal; everything looks great!

I used Ana from makeovermajic and she was great. Very personable, did exactly what I had asked, no problems. She was a little chatty when she was doing my hair/makeup the day of the wedding, and I got a little nervous I would be late, but boy, does she know what she's doing! She had me all done up well in advance of our start time. I give her a thumbs up!

i had no idea that the china pavilion was an option. your things look amazing.

what other locations are inside the park and what are there minimuns and all??

Lori:

I finally finished your PJ & I cant wait to see more(im so bad, i read during work)

Anyway...its a shame your FILs arent being nice. Its completely wrong for them to say the wedding is for your Guests!!!! NO WAY.!!! Dont let them steel your thunder!!

I love the idea on the invitations!!....i would love to hear how they turn out!!

The lights for the China Paviollion sound really neat....they also have lights that you can add to centerpieces & bouqets too....that would be fun!! they are called floralytes.

I love your dress, especially to hop...very pretty!!

Congrats again!!:)

you have some really great ideas.

I had no idea china pavilion was an option either.. it is gorgeous!

can't wait to hear more :goodvibes

Thanks for the great information! I can't wait to read more! :)

Congrats on everything. We are actually getting married a couple weeks after you at Seabreeze point so you will have to keep me updated on the temps and weather conditions.
