Help...

We are going to be a party of 5-6 adults and our only options are SSR and OKW. This would be for Oct/November. Without a car and no 2 bedroom preferred sections available, what would be your recommendation for where to stay. What are best room requests etc....THANKS!!

Both resorts are buses-only to parks and DS. We’re at SSR right now in the Paddock building 45, which is a Standard section, and the Carousel bus stop (2nd stop for SSR) is directly in front of our building. It’s also only a 10 minute walk or so to the Carriage House for food and the main SSR feature pool, and less than 10 minutes to the Paddock pool. Another good Standard location would be Grandstand building 85 - very close to Carriage House and directly next to the Grandstand pool, but not as close to the Grandstand bus stop (1st SSR stop) as building 45 :earboy2: is to the Carousel stop!

SSR - preferred room close to Disney Springs and have that transportation if close.
OKW - can feel like a long time on bus to MK

If your stay is more resort focused then go with OKW. Honestly not my top picks if not using a car or using a ride share service.

OKW will have a much larger patio, larger common space in the LR/Kitchen. BUT no elevators, so if any problem with steps, go for SSR. or request a ground floor unit.

Have not stayed at OKW yet. At SSR I would request Grandstand 81 or 85. Proximity to Disney Springs ended up being less a draw than I had thought it would be when we stayed in Paddock 61 (very South end). We ended up needing to visit the carriage house a few times, so closer to that and the bus stop would have been nice.

Thanks SO much!!

I stayed at OKW about 2 years ago without a car with a group of adults and have done several trips like that. I find that it's completely manageable without a car - however, these were pre-COVID times. We ubered once or twice out of convenience but other than that did strictly Disney transportation. We were in Building 31 (not preferred) and thought it was actually fairly manageable to walk to the Hospitality House as well if needed. I haven't stayed SSR in a long time so I can't really make a comparison for you there but I don't think OKW is that bad. Also, I love the size of the villas and deck. It is such a relaxing resort!

Thanks for your info :)

We have stayed at OKW once and SSR several times... which indicates our preference. When at Disney my family prefers to go and do than sit and relax, so that factors into it. Both are large, spread out resorts so buses can require some patience. When we stay at SSR we typically get a preferred room with a view of Disney Springs - which helps add to the feel that we are at Disney.

We are the same. Barely in the room. Would rather be out and about exploring and going to parks and the Springs. Sadly preferred was not available. Do you have a pref for a standard room section?

We’re in Paddock building 45. The Carousel bus stop is literally in front of this building, a shorter walk than from the front entrances of either Carousel building, not to mention being the 2nd SSR bus stop. And SSR has elevators in all buildings; OKW does not.
