I've already posted this on the resort thread, but thought I might get a response here. Can anyone recommend a good location at SSR to request when I make my ressie?

We've stayed at Congress Park and liked it. It has a great view of DTD and is still pretty close to the main pool.

Edited to add: just found a thread on the planning boards, they have the map posted, look like Springs is very close to the main area. The link is here

Hope that helps!

Thanks, I appreciate that.

You're welcome! I love your t-shirts! Did you make them? Do you already have a thread about how you did?

Yes, I did make them. Check out the Creative DISigns forum. There are instructions for the tiedyes over there, plus tons of designs to make iron-on transfers.

We just booked our first stay at SSR, and had heard that Congress Park was the building to choose. Our concern was that it was the closest to the bus terminals. We last stayed at PCR and thought the walk from the bus terminal to our room (we stayed in the farest part of the resort) was crazy, especially coming back late from the park holding a sleeping 3 yr old. Looking at the map I cannot locate a pool area in Congress Park. Am I just missing it?

The quiet pool at Congress Park is sort of between the two middle buildings, right by the lake, with a fabulous Downtown Disney view. :goodvibes

Hi,
We're getting ready for our stay at Saratoga Springs in 23 days...can hardly wait!

I'd like to be close to the main pool, I think, because I'm sure our four kids will want to live there when we're not at the parks. My oldest (7) is really excited about the rock slide. But it sounds like the dining options at SSR aren't very extensive, so I thought we'd probably end up in Downtown Disney a lot. Did any of you find that the walk over there was too much for the kids?

Also, I tend to like staying on ground floors just because of the stroller, etc., but are there any views that are better enjoyed from up higher? This would be more for my parents' (who are traveling with us) benefit.

Finally, are we supposed to do something to take advantage of the Magical Express service? Or will MS automatically take care of it?

Thanks!!!

Hi we just got back from SSR. We were in building 35 in the springs, 1st floor. It was a good location for us. All buildings do have elevators, but it was nice not having to wait for it. Our room opened up to a patio and that was nice. However it felt a little strange, the 1st night I felt very exposed. I got over it though.

We also were just a short walk across the bridge to the Padocks, and they have a really great playground. We never walked to DTD, but did eat (take out) at the resort resturant.

DD loved the pool and slide. They also had a lot of CM interaction on member days (and other.)

I did a trip report, here is a link to it if you are interesed. Warning, it is long. :goodvibes http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1002316

We stayed in CP in October. The farthest building in the complex, closest to DTD. We loved this location. Our favourite parts were the 5 minute walk to the DTD Marketplace (Earl of Sandwich) and the CP quiet pool. It was soooo quiet. There were never more than 2 or 3 other families there. CP is also the last stop before the Main complex so if we didn't feel like the walk you could hop whichever bus was on it's way by and ride to the Springs. The walk was about 8 minutes.

The Springs section is closest to the main pool, although you still have to cross a road to get to it. There aren't any locations where you can walk out of your building and be right at the pool.

We walked to DTD with our kids, 16, 8 and 4. The youngest was in an umbrella stroller. The walk is not bad, 10-15 minutes from the Springs. We took the boat back to avoid trying to find our way in the dark. We had carryout from Artist Point one night for dinner. We all thought it was pretty good.

Also, I tend to like staying on ground floors just because of the stroller, etc., but are there any views that are better enjoyed from up higher? This would be more for my parents' (who are traveling with us) benefit.

We stayed on the ground floor and it was very convenient. The view was not great, however. Our view was the parking lot and road. But it was so convenient to the bus stop and the main pool, we didn't really mind. I did have to keep the curtains closed because of feeling like we were in a fishbowl - lots of foot traffic very close to our windows. :(

Finally, are we supposed to do something to take advantage of the Magical Express service? Or will MS automatically take care of it?

You can arrange Magical Express through MS, they will need your flight information.

Is it true that the quiet pools at SSR aren't heated? The kids might not mind, but for a February visit, I think a nice warm pool might be a good idea!

I was hoping to get a little more help narrowing down where we should stay. It might be easier to figure out where we definitely SHOULDN'T stay. Did you think any areas were just not great?

Thanks so much! (21 days until we leave...can hardly wait)

The Congress Park pool was heated when we were there in December. It was 65 degrees out, and we went swimming!

The main pool was heated last week. It was around 70 out, but swimming was fine. Mind you a bit chilly if you get out of the water and the wind is blowing. :teeth:

I have to mention that my 4 year old DD loved the small slide. So cool that they have that. :flower:
