SSR is a very nice resort.....divided currently into three sections...Congress Park (facing Downtown Disney) the Springs (two or three buildings...not sure)
which are closest to the themed pool area, lobby, etc. and the Paddocks (accessible by roadway or a footbridge which opens into the Springs area)
There is also construction going on for several more buildings on the golf course....these won't be available until at least early 2007. We've stayed twice in the Springs area ........which is very nice because it's close to everything. However, we have an upcoming visit (also in October) and I'd like to try Congress Park, I think. The landscaping is gorgeous and I like the fact if you have your own car or a rental car parking is right outside your building, not a huge parking lot 1/2 mile away like at BWV, VWL, and BCV. There are also currently 2 quiet pools in addition to the themed pool and a laundry room near each pool. We have stayed in a 1 bedroom and a studio there.....both were well equipped. The hallways are outside hallways which I have mixed feelings about.........there is one bank of elevators in each building..at the main entrance to each building which is the center......so if your room is located at the end of the building you could have a bit of a walk even after exiting the elevator. Last trip we were at an end and it really wasn't bad because we would take the elevator up, but, we were right around the corner from a stairwell and would just take the stairs down rather than walking through the halls. The themed pool is very nice.....I have heard on the boards some people think it looks dirty, but, it's got a colorization to it that makes it look like a hot spring with rock formations and such so I really think a lot of what people think looks dirty is supposed to be that way. The main hot tub is built into "Disney rock" nearby the theme pool. I haven't used the hot tub, since we have a "thing" about public hot tubs (we have one at home and know if they're not properly maintained and sanitized what kinds of bacteria can live in them) but, it does look very nice. As far as restaurant service at SSR, there is a counter service area "Artists Palette" which has sandwiches, salads, etc. Also, "The Turf Club Bar and Grill" has recently opened ....we haven't been there yet, but, I have checked the menu on Allearsnet and it didn't wow me. However, you're in walking distance to all the restaurants at DD and also just a short drive to the Crossroads area offsite where there are several chains like Olive Garden, Orlando Ale House, TGIF's, and such.
Hope my assessment has helped you.......
