Hi - I posted this yesterday morning, and wanted to add one more enjoyable thing we "discovered" at SSR. Yesterday my husband and 2 older grandsons spent the day fishing with a friend over in Venice, Florida. I spent the day in Typhoon Lagoon with the 2 younger grandkids. In the early evening we walked over to check out the Community Hall. What frun! They had Wii, pingpong, foosball, coloring and we played a couple cut throat games of Connect 4. The CMs were great. The BCVs do not have anything like this. Also, "discovery" number 2. I am going to the spa for a facial tomorrow. That sounds very nice.
I am still loving SSR!!!

???Sorry, I "lost" the beginning of this post when I went to edit it. I spoke of how I am a diehard BCV owner and lover and only wanted to stay there or in our other home in HH. A late decision to go to WDW left us with few choices, and we ended up at Saratoga Springs. Short form: we love it!

We are staying in the Paddock in a 2 bedroom overlooking a beautiful lake and landscaping. We can park right in front of our villa, the bus stop is next door, there is a quiet pool next door, and a bridge to the main pool is just steps away. The dreaded concrete hallways are painted, clean, have mirrors and are just fine. The elevators are quick, quiet and they are beautifully decorated too.The bus service is prompt.

Our room is beautiful, CLEAN, and nothing shows wear and tear (one of the real negatives about the BCV). Everyone has been so friendly. I drank my coffee on the balcony today and loved the view.

If you see a trend here - beautiful describes it. We have really enjoyed our visit here and I would not hesitate a moment to book here again. So if you have hesitated to stay here, I would suggest that you reevaluate it. What a lovely place!

I'm so glad you like it! SSR is our home resort, and we love it there as well.

Thanks for the nice review. We feel that way about Saratoga, too. It grew on us after some wonderful stays there.

Thanks for the positive review of SSR. It is so nice to see people saying good things about it as it is a lovely resort. There is something to be said about quiet pools and lush landscaping. It feels more "resort-like" when you have multiple pools.

We did 2 add-ons at SSR as we really loved it (and there were some really good deals to be had on SSR points too).

Another victim of SSR-ritius. Afraid to catch it but once you have it " Oh this isn't so bad after all"

Glad you like it! Have a Magical stay at My Home! :goodvibes

DH & I own at SSR and stayed there in Feb. on DP for an add on. It really is a very nice resort. We were pleasantly surprised!!!!! Our fav is BCV because of the proximity to EPCOT, but we really enjoyed our stay and are staying there again before our cruise in July. Our DD& DSIL just came back from SSR last week and also loved it. DS & fiance will be staying there in Aug. I'm sure they will love it also.

Disney was smart giving out DP at SSR. It "forced" people to stay there. I am sure that once they stay, they will be SSR converts like us, too.

So happy to read of your observations at SSR. :) Enjoy your stay at one of my favorite resorts! I do enjoy an early morning walk across the footbridge from the Paddock section to Artist Palette. Ahhh the yearning to be home again...:cloud9:

So happy to hear that you like it...We own at SSR and LOVE it! We have stayed at te other DVC resorts and although i like all of them, there is just something about SSR and my kids actually beg us to book it all the time..lol

We loved SSR when we stayed there last June, too. Planning another stay there next Feb. Such a peaceful, beautiful place.

SSR is truly a "Resort", calm, refreshing, easy going, friendly. DW & I love our time at SSR. Each DVC Resort has something that calls to you, whether the resort itself, its location, or memories.

I sometimes think that SSR is getting a reputation as a DVC dumping grounds. when there is over flow at the moderates, they send you to SSR, when a new DVC resort is in the making and DPs are offered, yes, they offer you SSR until completion of your new home. but SSR is not just the overflow catch basin for all other DVC properties. It is indeed a wonderful magical place! :wizard:

I'm glad we're being "forced" (:if this is torture, chain me to the wall man") to stay @ SSR on our DP's. We will be there 5/24-6/4 and, due to great posts like these, are really looking forward to it. Honestly, we would never choose to stay @ SSR having never been there, maybe our first stay will change our mind! We are definitely looking forward to our first stay @ SSR. We love OKW and hear a lot of posts comparing the two; fine by me!!:thumbsup2

We had lunch at the Turf Club last March and the resort looked spotless from the outside. I definitely would like to stay there someday.

Thank you for your wonderful review of SSR. We are staying there in August on developer points. We bought at BLT. I was starting to get a little nervous about this resort because I want our first trip as owners to be fantastic. It is also our last family trip before our oldest, DS 18, goes off to college. This will be a no theme park vacation, so it sounds like it just might be the perfect spot for us. Plenty of time to enjoy all the resort amenities and family time!:sunny: Hope we get to hear more about the resort and your time there!

Hey, stop talking up SSR... It's going to make securing a ressie much harder for us owners!:rotfl:

I loved our stay in the Paddocks as well! So many people say how "terrible" it is to be "stuck" out there, but all we had to do was walk down the side stairwell and right on to the bridge to the main building. We loved that view of the water and fountains, very relaxing! :thumbsup2

Saratoga Springs was our first trip to a DVC. We rented a reservation on spur of the moment. We have only been to OKW since and back to SSR once. NExt year we decided to try SSR again.

DH was scared of Disney resorts because a little too much craziness (many people) for him. But we loved the beautiful sites, serene surroundings and had no problem with transportation. We stayed in Grandstand both times and loved it.

We really should try others but DH says Why? SSR is perfect!

I'm glad that you are enjoying your stay! We can't wait to get back to our favorite resort!

I'm beginning to see more and more positive reports about SSR. I have always wondered why so many people liked to trash it in the earlier days. I have always enjoyed it. But I never stayed there until the Grandstand section was finished. So I wonder, did some not like SSR because:
1) It wasn't finished when they first stayed there? I would not have liked being there during construction either.
2) First impressions of an unfinished resort still affect their opinion. All the mud, noise, etc? All long gone to a nice green landscape now.
3) Disappointment of the Eagle Creek project being cancelled in favor of SSR.

I know people have legitimate personal reasons for not liking SSR. But I'm sure glad so many people are like me and finding it to be an absolutely wonderful resort to stay at.

I am so glad that every one is loving it as well. We will also be there on th 24th and were looking forward to it as well. Some of the other posts mad me wonder how good it would be but if more people are loving it than I am no longer worried.
Thanks
