OK, it won't be too long and all of us here on the DIS will start refering to the new DVC resort being built at the old Disney Institute site.

The official name is "Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa".

None of us want to type that so we'll probably develop a DIS 'abbreviation' for the resort, just like we have for all the other DVC resorts.

OKW
BWV
VWL
BCV
HH
VB

So what's your choice abbreviation?

DSS - Disney's Saratoga Springs
SS - Saratoga Springs
SSR - Saratoga Springs Resort
SSS - Saratoga Springs and Spa
SRS - Saratoga Resort and Spa
SSV - Saratoga Springs Villas

or something else.

Edited to Add the SSV designation

P.S. I have a practical reason for this poll also. Many of you are using my DVC planner program. For the next release this coming spring, I need to have a 2 - 3 letter abbreviation to use in the program.

SSV - For saratoga springs villas

Although it's officially the "Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa," it unlikely that many people will say "and Spa" when talking about the resort. Thus, it's the "Saratoga Springs Resort" -- easily abbreviated to SSR.

The name of the resort is not "Saratoga Springs Villas," any more than Disney's Old Key West Resort is "Key West Villas" or KWV.

We don't add the R for Resort in the abbreviation of any of Disney's other resorts. We don't abbreviate Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort as HHR, Disney's Vero Beach Resort as VBR, Disney's Old Key West Resort as OKWR, etc. So why would we abbreviate Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort as SSR? I vote for simply SS.

SSR....for consistency sake.

D is dropped for the same reason it is dropped in Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

SS = Basic name of the place

R = The noun Disney uses in the title...such as the V in BCV, VWL, and BWV. OKW is an oddity but no one wants to go to four letter abbreviations, so it's not OKWR.

Off site DVC? Two letter limit!!!;)

Not at the moment.Lets see what it is actually named when it opens.

for a new, modified poll with SSV as an option - after all, with BWV and VWL and BCV, I feel that the V has become an important part of our acronyms... :D

I completely agree. I was just going to post the same thing!
I vote SSV, or VSS (Villas at Saratoga Springs).

I voted SSR but then I noticed the SSV.
I like that better!

Villas at Saratoga Springs sounds better to me so how bout VSS like VWL??:D

Going by the common abbreviations here on the DIS...

Contemporary Resort is CR
Coronado Springs Resort is CSR

therefore it makes sense (to my mind anyway....which makes the entire issue debatable..lol) to use SSR.

The official names of BWV and VWL are Boardwalk Villas and Villas at the Wildernes Lodge, hence their abbreviations. Adding the R for resort is only necessary when its needed to make the abbreviation longer than one letter, or to distinguish between two similar abbreviations....or when its just awkward otherwise... (like the above examples of CR and CSR)

SS just reminds me of Nazi Germany and WWII...not something I want associated with my vacations.

Technically every resort's name starts with Disney's....but it guess that would be another valid way of distinguishing an awkward or repetitive abbreviation.

But whatever becomes commonly used I'll adopt.
