Saratoga Springs Resort - Preferred vs Standard

We've stayed at SSR many times, however it's always been in Congress Park. This summer we're weighing whether we'd rather do 10 nights in a Preferred Room (Congress Park ideally) or 12 nights in a Standard Room. So my question to those who've stayed in the Standard Rooms, is it worth giving up the location of Congress Park for the 2 extra nights? Mind you, we'll have 2 young kids with us and preferably would rather not be incredibly far from everything there. There's gonna be a lot of pool time and walks every morning for coffee/breakfast. The Paddock obviously would be our best option of the Standard choices, no? Granted there would be no guarantee of getting The Paddock.

The Paddock is the best location on property, IMO. We love the Paddock pool and, if you can get in the 6000s you are close to Congress Park and The Springs area.
But yes, you aren't guaranteed to get in there and could be put anywhere.

Of course there's no guarantee that you'll get your request, but we've had great luck at Saratoga. We stay there in 1-bedrooms booked through RCI exchanges. Every time we have requested Paddock, even specifying the building closest to Congress Park. And we've been placed in that building every time. I'd definitely go for the extra nights in standard view. There's no guarantee you'd get Congress Park with preferred either.

I've always preferred the Grandstand area. If you can get one of the 8000 buildings you will be somewhat close to the Springs also. The Grandstand has a pretty good "quiet" pool with a small pool bar that is never busy. I would personally rather do 12 nights in the Grandstand than 10 in another area.

I've owned at SSR since it opened, stayed a boatload of times over the years and almost never get my request. I've come the conclusion that I must be on their "naughty list" lol

Having said that, I really love the resort and would definitely choose the longer stay in a standard view. Paddock or Grandstand are both excellent locations... just don't let them put your in Carousel!

Luckily Boardwalk ended up coming through for us on the waitlist, so this is now a moot point but thank you all for the input. Maybe we’ll be able to use it in the future!
