Hope you don't mind a non member aking questions, I did before and you guys are great and ansered them all. I have more, we are staying with friends at SSR in a 2bedroom villa. They are DVC and have made the ressie. I believe our names are listed on the ressie and we are all getting the DDP. Due to some family situations right now we do not want to bog them down with our little questions, however they have told us they are still planning on going and are really looking forward to the break from all the stuff here at home. So here goes

1. We are arriving early and they are arriving later that day. I was wondering can we get into SSR and park and use the transportation as we are staying there that day, would we be able to go ahead and check ourselves in (we do not expect to get to the room) we are mostly looking for the parking pass. I would think we cannot get our ddp until we are all there.

2. What kind of coffee maker is in the room, big or small? Are there filters or do we need to bring some and if so what kind?

3. If we go ahead and use our MYW passes that morning can we still have the rest of the days added to our room key, or should we stop in and see if they can do it that morning--we are just worried since they are the memebers we cant access the ressie.

Thanks for any info you can offer us. We are so excited this is our first time at a DVC resort. (I am afraid we might get hooked or spoiled)

As long as your names are listed on the reservation, you can check in even if the owners aren't there yet. If the room is not ready, you can still get your families' room keys, which will have access to the pool of the units's DDP credits. You can get the parking pass at that time also.

As a courtesy, you may want to talk to your friends about this - only one credit card per unit can be "on file" for charges to the room. They may want to use their credit card and only allow charging on the keys issued to their family. All of the keys will open the door to the unit and all of the keys will have access to the "pool" of DP credits. If you haven't already, you'll need to talk about how you plan to deal with those issues.

After you check in, you can use the Disney & Resort transportation, the Dining Plan, the Pool and as well as all of the other resort amenities.

FWIW, since SSR is so large, your unit may very well be ready early.

There will be a 10-12 cup coffeemaker in the unit. It is the drip kind - similar to a Mr. Coffee. You will need to bring your own filters (basket type) and your own coffee. The unit will have a start up supply (1 regular pack and 1 decaf pack). The initial supply is a combination coffee and filter pack. Some members like to bring those combo packs instead of filters and coffee separately - they are convenient. Others (like me) are very fussy about their coffee (don't like the coffee in the combos) and so bring their own brands and filters. :)

If you want your MYW tickets on your room keys, you need to do it at check in before you use the tickets. The CMs will not put partially used tickets on a room key.

BY basket do you mean the kind with the rippley sides and are round? We use cone type filers or gold. My husband is very picky about coffee and it is his biggest complaint about WDW.

We do not want to charge to the room so we will let them handle that if they want to charge to the room.

I did not think about our ddp credits being all pooled. But I guess it is just one ressie. We are good friends and it will not be an issue, everyone will just keep track. I am thinking that with ddp and DVC you pay for it when you check in. Since we will only pay our credits worth, I would think we will not have access to the DDP until they arrive. So maybe we cant check in until they come or we need to make arrangements with them ahead to pay the whole DDP when we get there. Also will this change trying to get our tickets added to our room key as they have AP I think. We will survive if it is all seperate.

Yes, the ones with the rippley sides.

I don't think you can access the dining plan since you won't be paying the full amount. And since the credits are pooled and encoded on all the room keys, I don't think you'll be able to get your room keys (and perhaps not check-in) until the entire DDP is paid for. So then, if you want to take of to the parks before the rest of your party arrives, they won't be able to transfer your park ticket to a room key, since you won't have our room key.

We had two rooms and although I paid for the DDP with my CC it was not the one that was put on room keys for charging during the trip. They issued all the keys and I asked them to hold the extra ones so the rest of the group could pick them up when they got there. If each of you will have cars be sure to ask for 2 parking permits and leave one with the room keys. If your friends then want to add charging to the card they can do so when they pick up the keys.

Excellent solution, having everyone pay the earliest arrival for the DDP. Otherwise I'm pretty sure the DDP would have been the fly in the ointment.
 
You guys are awesome, thank you so much. We are thrilled about this trip, but since about 3 weeks ago one of this families adult family members is missing. This has been incredibly stressful and despairing for them. We expressed to them to feel free to cancel as their family is much more important. However they said they are looking forward to the time away and with non family and in a Happy place. We just have not wanted to bother them with what seems like trivial details. I knew the DIS could help me out. I think we will just use our tickets seperate as to not hassel them with all these details and just meet them at the hotel for check-in in the afternoon when they call us. If we end up having to pay $10 at the MK that morning its not a huge deal. If the opportunity arises to handle the details with them before we will, but we leave in about 4 or 5 weeks. I am a carzy planner, but right now coffee filters seems like such a ridiculous thing to be asking about.

Just don't forget the coffee to go with them - The other thing you may want to take is extra detergent and fabric softener sheets if you haven't already added those to your list.

If you have a copy of the hotel confirmation, show that at the parking gate...and explain you haven't checked in yet. They will probably waive the fee.

As for your friends, how awful for them to have a family member go missing :grouphug:

Thanks, as a matter of fact his name is Chuck. There has been no info and so it has just been crushing for the family. Thanks for your support and answers to my questions. We just have not felt comfortable bothering them with what seems like silly questions they have so much more going on. For now I am good but I am sure I will think of something again next week. I think you are who answered my cancellation policy question a couple weeks ago.

Thank you all very much. Now we know what to do and my husband can drink decent coffee. No I will have to find another character to compare him o as grumpy won't work anymore.:rotfl:
