We are headed to Saratoga Springs NY and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a place to stop for dinner in the downtown area. We are having Italian the night before we leave so I would try and skip any Italian restaurants. We have been there before but it was many years ago.

Also for those familiar with the area, anywhere you would suggest for lunch in the Clifton Park, NY area?

Thanks!

Hattie's Restaurant is a classic in Saratoga Springs. Their website is their name. They are known for fried chicken which I've had and can vouch for. Do you like Vietnamese food? One of our favorite restaurants in Clifton Park is Saigon Spring. It's on route 9 so relatively easy to find. Again, their name is their website.

Are you coming to watch the ponies run in circles?

:offtopic: One time when I went to WDW I was offered an upgrade to Saratoga Springs, but since I live in Saratoga county I chose Key West instead. I'm working my way through the resorts, I've stayed at ten, so eventually I'll make it to SSR.

Hattie's is great like the PP said. We haven't been there in years but used to like the Old Bryan Inn. There was also a very good Mexican restaurant but I can't remember the name, so that is no help.

I would have suggested Feretti's in Clifton Park but you said no Italian. We miss their pizza!

Thank you both so much for the suggestions. We have walked by Hattie's many times but never had dinner there.

Yes, we are going to the races one afternoon. We love that racetrack. So pretty! We too have gone to SSR at WDW but never stayed there either. Pretty hotel but the town of Saratoga Springs itself has so much character. We love it!

There are soo many restaurants in Saratoga Springs that are good. Problem is the track opens tomorrow parking is a chore and restaurants fill up. Have a nice visit.

The Mexican place we prefer in Saratoga is El Mexicano on South Broadway - it is on the way into town, close to the liquor store. There are a couple of others that are more in the 'town center', but the food here is better.

The Merry Monk is also very good - I had a stew special there last year that I loved. You will definitely need a reservation here - especially if visiting during prime dinner hours.

Thank you barbliny. Never noticed Merry Monk on my Google searches. I checked out the menu then noticed they have 169 Belgian beers on tap and 175 bottled beers. Incredible selection. We will certainly check this place out! Thank you again!

I second El Mexicano if you like Mexican food. Excellent restaurant!

I used to live in Clifton Park. I miss Spa Brauhaus in Ballston Spa. I also used to eat at Pancho's on Exit 8 in Clifton Park (but there are many good Mexican places near Saratoga). I thought Hattie's was great too. Also, Karavelli's in Latham was amazing Indian food and I see they've opened a second location in Saratoga. Good luck! :-)
