I have received word from my guide that it is looking like Aug. 4 is the magical date. It looks lik BCV is real close to selling out.

Does HH have a sales location? I am going in August and would love to talk with a guide about SS.

i will be there for the sale of ss if it starts aug 4th. is the sales office still at the boardwalk? i know that they will be moving over to ss when it opens or getting ready to open, i heard they will change the old offices at the bw into new villas, thats how they got to sell more points for the bwv. if anyone knows if they moved the office yet please let us know. thanks.;)

There is a DVC phone in the lobby at Live Oak Lodge at HH. Just pick up the phone and it connects you directly to DVC Sales. When we were there last Thanksgiving, we picked up the phone, asked for our guide, and did an add-on right then and there over the phone with a credit card in hand for the deposit!!

We just joined on Wednesday - yay us - and we were told that the Saratoga would start selling at $89/point.

Thaey do have the points schedule out to the guides,But the points info cannot be released to us yet.My guide is suppose to call me just as quick as they are able to release this info.

Just talked to my guide, these were his thoughts, not confirmed yet:

the point structure will be between OKW and BCV/BWV
room size are similar to BCV/BWV
expiration date will be extended to 2054
Price will be higher with incentives, not sure what they are yet, maybe similar to what they offered for BCV's pre-sale (free hotel nights?)

So the points will have an additional 12 years. Interesting.

Well, for those that felt that SSR might not have enough selling power, the extra 12 years sorta changes that a bit.

That's interesting about the new expiration date. If everyone else's contract ends in 2042 and SSR ends in 2054 where are SSR people going to stay besides SSR? Do you think they are ging to extend everyone's contracts to 2054 eventually? Or do you think they are going to build new DVC accomodations that will have later expirations as well?

Think of us as the cows. Think of DVC as the farmer. Would you milk the cows if they were begging to be milked? How much are those extra 12 years worth to you? (Sounds like a possible new thread!

I just saw the 2054 rumor on another board, too. That person was given the information from a guide on a Disney cruise. They also heard the opening price will be $89 per point. I wonder if there will now be two price points? Something a little lower for all the other DVCs? Or, maybe they expect everything else to be sold-out before they begin selling?

If they do change the end date, it stands to reason that all future DVC's will also have that date. Eagle Pines is supposedly still on the boards.

Or, maybe they expect everything else to be sold-out before they begin selling?
But what do they do when they get points back via ROFR??? Sounds to me like we're headed to a two tier pricing system.

I guess I'll go out on a limb and suggest that there will only be one price....$89 a point, when SSR opens for sales.

For the current DVC resorts, the demand continues to be there for ROFR points....they had no problem reselling all those BWV and VWL points at $84 a point, did they?

For SSR, the 12 extra years would support the price.

Why would Disney create a two tier system of pricing? Then their ROFR points would undermine the recoup of new construction points...and given the choice, I have to think DVD would rather sell SSR points than add-on points that only have a small margin for them.

Stay tuned, eh? :)

Whatever it is... I'm sure it'll be interesting.

I realize the price spread isn't that big, but I just can't picture them charging the same price for non-SSR points vs. SSR points given that one only has about 3/4 the useful life (and dropping) of the other.

i can see them do this for SSR to add to its appeal. it is the largest resort (bigger than OKW) and the location to many people are not as prime as BWV/BCV or WLV while the points are higher than OKW.

Ok.. We just purchased BVC at $84 ($74 w/ MB). We only purchased 200 pts, so what you are saying is that for another $1000 ($89 for SSR vs. $84 for BVC), I might have been able to get another 12 years?

I think that Disney is going to really need to look at this. I think that the price to extend (if offered) should be comparable to the $1,000 that I could waited 2 months to spend.

I am not saying that I am not happy with my decision, only that I will not even take my first trip home until Feb. 2004. By then, I could have had another 12 years of vacations. I know that 39 years is a long ways away (or 38 years of vacationing in my position), but in 2042 I will be 70. I defintely would have preferred to have had my vacations covered to age 82.
