Saratoga Springs Bus Upset

I really hope that those who had bus issues addressed them with management during your stay as it sounds like it is a bit of a problem and I'd hate to only be reading about it here to find out that no one is bringing it up directly with management (and no, I don't mean calling the central front desk) so that it continues.

We own at SSR and have stayed there several times and love it - although we rent a car almost every trip!

The good news is that WDW has budgeted additional millions to upgrading the buses, including tracking devices as well as cameras at all the stops. Central office can then monitor all the stops, routing buses where needed.

Obviously if the longest wait someone has at a bus stop is 30 minutes, then the ave. wait is going to be 15 minutes. For every person thats unlucky and just misses the previous bus, there is that person that gets lucky and is the last person on the bus before it leaves.

We were at SSR 12/9-12/12 and the only bus issue I remember is waiting at MGM for a bus back to SSR one night when the park was closing. We actually all almost bribed an OKW bus to take us back, but he couldn't. :) He did radio ahead for us and a bus was coming within a few minutes. But after 2 OKW busses pulled up and no SSR, we were really starting to wonder. Otherwise, I didn't feel my bus wait times were any longer than at the YC, Swan, or WL where I've stayed before. But then again, I never had priority seating that I HAD to be at for a certain time and I try not to rush on vacation.

I agree with Dean - we drive everywhere except MK. My wish for MK is that they would have some more benches in the bus waiting pen area at MK. By then time I get done with all my running in MK, my feet are BEAT!

We just got home (very late last night, opps I mean early this morning  ) and we found th busses ok. Not great. Not really bad. However most of the time we did end up taking the car to most places besides MK because it was easier (especailly with the kids at closing time.) We were very glad we had a car. I don't find it as nessasry at BCV or VWL.

I think when the resort is compelted it is going to be way too big. The busses were ok now, but it wasn't a busy time of year and more then once the bus pulled to the last stop of the resort and was already full. Another bus did come shortly after, but there is no way the busses will hold everyone when the resort is done. This concerns me about staying there then.

Also the whole share a waiting bus stop with OKW has to be fixed. That one doesn't make sense and doesn't work well at all. Especailly as big as both resorts are.

When did this happen ? I was at OKW in August and we never shared a bus stop with SSR the whole week we were there ? Is this new ?

Epcot, not sure if there is any other place, we took the car to AK.

They don't share busses, but everyone cues in the same line. It doesn't work very well.

We did have one "bad bus experince while we were there. DH didn't want to wait for the bus after closing at Epcot, so we left around 8:15, we just missed a bus, I think he even saw us waving and coming, but he just pulled off. I took this to mean another one was coming soon. We didn't get on a buss until well after the park closed, and then the OKW came 1st. (the whole line thing.) This was the only time we took the bus home from Epcot, we drove most other days, (for this reason.)

Well, beloved, we were there Dec. 26 - Jan. 2. I will say that in over 30+ years of Disney-ing, those were the biggest crowds I've ever seen (of course, it's only the 3rd time I've been that particular week, but sharing that takes the edge off my hyperbole.)

Anyway, we rode the buses a lot, and because we are a family of absolute pristine moral purity, and the Disney gods were smiling on us, we didn't have to wait (well, once at Epcot for about 30 minutes, because our tired little legs didn't allow us to sprint to the stop as the bus was pulling off.)

But, hey, if you aren't pleased with bus service, or any service, be a squeaky wheel. Who knows? Yours may be just the thing to put some wavering Disney middle manager over the edge, leading him to bellow, "Will someone PUH-LEEZE do something about bus service to SSR!? Make it happen, people!"

And there y'are, and others will fall down and call you blessed.
