Alright, what is the secret to using saran wrap (or any plastic wrap for that matter)???

I have NEVER been able to make it stick. I have a platter of dessert bars that I'm bringing to a cook-out tonight, and I swear, I have half a roll on that platter in my attempt to cover and seal the platter to no avail. It simply does not stick! I might as well just leave it uncovered. The wrap is just piled on top and won't stick to the sides or bottom...

I must be missing something because I've seen other people wrap things in saran wrap and their food is sealed.

I've stretched, pulled, twisted, tucked but never have any luck with that stuff (only time it actually sticks is when it's inside the box and I'm trying to tear off a sheet!!)

Wrap it all the way around the platter so it sticks to itself. I started using the giant rolls from Costco because that stuff sticks like crazy.

I guess we are probably the only2 people in the world. I have used every brand there is and I just gave up. I hate the stuff and refuse to use it.

This.

And I'm started using the press and seal stuff. sticks great to itself, and doesn't tangle quite as easy as plastic wrap.

Freeze it. Freezing plastic wrap cuts the static cling.

DH learned this trick when he worked in a restaurant as a teen. We have been freezing plastic wrap for over 22 years. Just used mine from the freezer a little while ago.

This!!! I will never buy anything else-every again, amen!

Yep, Press and Seal. Otherwise I get tangled up in the saran wrap. Hate the stuff.

I also buy the big giant rolls from Costco. Never had a problem with it, it sticks perfectly every time :thumbsup2

Haven't touched the stuff in years! Glad Press'n Seal or foil.

Thanks all! I tried wrapping the entire platter... still didn't work. I am so DONE with Saran wrap. Will try the Glad Press 'n Seal next time - thanks for the recommendation!!

Yes the operative words are Saran Wrap sticks to itself. you have to pull out a long enough length to wrap it around enough so it is touching and sticking to itself. You notice, how when you pull it out of the box it starts sticking to itself and doesn't come apart & lie flat again? You have to utilize that same sticking property once you finally get one end around the bowl or platter and then to stick it down to itself.

Saran wrap sucks ! You have to use 4 or 5x as much as you'll think you need. You have to wrap it around and around and around.

I've been using Press and Seal for a long time and it's great.

I use it for all sorts of things. I lay it down in the bottle of my fruit drawer, veggies drawer and meats drawer. Heaven ! When it looks dirty I take it out rather than having to soak and scrub, scrub, scrub the drawers in the sink

That is what we also use. Gave up on the name brand stuff because it just doesn't stick well. But the Stretchtight from Costco, I think it has a glue component.

I am postop right now and have to wrap incision in plastic wrap to take a shower. A few wraps around my middle and am good to go. That stuff even sticks like glue under the onslaught of running water.
