Okay, anyone who has watched this, or has seen any of the PR about this episode, knows that Kate was, like, really bad.

But, is it just me, or was Kate set up, and was Sarah Palin like the 'mean girl' from H E double hockey sticks!!!!!

It was just SO glaringly obvious to me....

Sarah, saying just a little TOO brightly 'this is just SO much fun!!!" and then rolling her eyes at Kate.

I am NOT defending Kate, at all...
But, sorry, in a way I have to agree with her....
They knew that Kate was not used to those conditions, comfortable, etc... and I would bet big, huge, money that the producers set Kate up to focus completely on how just totally wonderful Sarah is.

I mean, Cmon... going out with that many kids... no package of paper plates, no roll of paper towels... No easy snack foods....

Never once saw Sarah, as the supposed wonderful hostess, go and say or do anything to see how she could make things better for Kate. :sad2:

Sorry, but this was so obvious to me that I just had to put it out there.

It looked like a complete and total set-up, and with the bad weather, unfortunately, Kate fell for it, hook line and sinker.

Even today, after the first episode ran on Sunday, the media is just all freakin' over how absolutely HORRID Kate was. :sad2:

Sorry, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with politics. But, Sarah has now lost any respect that I may have had for her as a woman.

I did watch most of it. I understand Kate isn't use to those conditions, but she really acted like a "baby" - why couldn't she eat the hot dog or hamburgers they were making when she was complaining about being hungry. The kids seem to be having fun.

Kate knew exactly what she was getting herself into. She wanted the money. I don't think she ever intended to actually camp. I have seen her too many times stop her kids from having fun. Remember when they were eating ice cream in front of the castle? She got all upset because their ice cream melted and got them dirty. No wonder she's alone. I refused to watch the show (saw new clips) because I am sick and tired of seeing her and hope she disappears soon.

I don't even LIKE Sarah Palin but I thought she was a gracious host and Kate was a whining, bratty baby.

She KNEW she was going camping in Alaska. The kids seemed to be having a good time but could Kate suck it up - no way.

It all about Kate, all the time.

She really showed her true colors this time. I don't even see the Dis Boards "Kate lovers" out there defending her this time.

We watched the episode last night for the first time and I could not disagree with you more. Kate did not even attempt to adapt to the situation. I have absolutely no interest in camping, but I would have tried to join in and make the best of the situation. I personally believe that Sarah deserves credit for her restraint. If eye-rolling was her biggest offense, then she is a better woman than me. The kids did not seem the least bit put out. They appeared to be having a good time. I can't imagine a lack of paper towels or paper plates to cause me to go over the deep end like that.

I lived in Alaska for 3 years and Alaskans really are about the outdoors. If you only went outdoors when the weather was nice, you would go stark raving mad from being inside all of the time.

Kate is a grown adult. She isn't stupid, either. Even if she has never been camping, she has to know that it is not based upon luxurious conditions. There really is not a good excuse for an adult (I wouldn't even let my children act that way) to pout, whine and groan the way Kate did.

Politics aside, I have more respect for Sarah for not allowing Kate to ruin everyone else's good time.

No, I completely disagree.

I am no big Sarah Palin fan, but I thought she and her family were very gracious and tried to show the Gosselin kids a good time. Kate's behavior was hideous - she was rude and didn't even try to adapt to the situation for her kids. She was HORRID.

I watched the episode and Kate acted like a complete idiot. She was rude and obnoxious from the moment they walked into the Palin home when she asked, "Did the tongue come out before, because it does now?" when one of the kids pulled the tongue out of the bear on the floor. A normal mother would be embarrassed that their child might have ruined something, but not Kate.

Yes, Sarah did roll her eyes at Kate, but I was too. It has nothing to do with being a bully or being nasty. It's about watching someone make a complete fool out of themselves and wondering who they think they are.

Kate proved on that show that number one for herself is Kate. Her kids didn't matter. If they did, she wouldn't have packed them up and forced them back on the plane or boat or whatever they took.

Kate acted like an idiot. No one set her up. She has been reality TVing it for long enough to know the ropes. She chose to act like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum, despite the fact that her kids were having an OK time. Sarah didn't use her evil mind control this time.:lmao

I watched the episode. I've rather sworn off Kate and I am not a Sarah Palin fan, but DH loves Alaska. We watched.

Kate was simply -- unspeakably -- and absolutely rude. The Palin family were entertaining her kids while she retreated under a tentish thing and complained. What an involved Super-Mom!

There were paper plates, there was snack food (gold fish, etc, in plastic bags for the kids, I saw them eating it early in the ep.) and moose burgers and moose hot dogs (so organic). There was water to wash hands -- um, see the river! Water! Lots of great "cleansing stuff" there.

Kate leapt over the shark on this one. She was just totally b****y. Big surprise. Oh, and she threw food to the ground. Way to teach your kids nice manners, Kate!

I think the Gosselin kids need to be off TV, so call me totally biased. Two of the Gosselin tups are apparently being home-schooled due to behavioral issues. I wish I were not surprised, but if the kids are emulating Mom's behaviors -- those behaviors are really not suited for the general population.

Poor children. JMO, YMMV.

If Kate was starving she could have eaten some of the Goldfish the kids were eating, or a plain hot dog bun or some of the S'mores fixings. I'm sure everyone including the camera crew had lots to eat.

JMO, but the whole thing was set up by TLC and Kate had to go. But no way was she even going to try to have a good time or participate.

No, it isn't just you, OP.

It was Sarah's show, so she had to look good.

Reading the other thread about it here on the Dis, I was surprised that so many people think it was all real. I thought that by now, everyone knew that there's nothing real about those so called "reality" shows.

Thanks moon!

And, as I had said earlier, I prefaced my post by stating clearly that Kate was just AWFUL!!! It is not that I am defending Kate.

But, I am seeing right past that, and looking at Sarah too.
It wasn't pretty.

Completely set up and scripted...

Kate and her issues are one thing, but to set up another woman like that and try to take benefit from their deficits and discomfort....
BEYOND :sad2:
Definitely

LOL, which is pretty much the definition of "reality TV"

I don't likw either one so good for E!! I don't get why I don't care for them as because according to my demographics and profile I should be glued to both of them. :rotfl:

What do you mean "to see Sarah stoop to that level"?

I think the Palin's were very gracious hosts. They were all actively involved in making it a good experience for Kate's kids, despite the weather. THey were sharing something that they like to do as a family with Kate's family.

Kate was horrible. Even if she was out of her comfort zone, she did not make the least bit of effort and was completely rude. There is a way to let someone know that you are unhappy or uncomfortable without acting like a royal *****.

I am no Sarah fan, but I really don't see what she did wrong here? And Sarah is a busy woman, do you really think she is all knowing about what Kate is like? I doubt it.

I don't care for camping and I hate the cold. But what else do you expect if you go camping in Alaska? I actually agreed with the things Kate was saying. However, I wouldn't have ever let my host know I felt that way. Especially if I kew I was being filmed for national television, I would have kept my mouth shut. I know television can be edited and manipulated but they can't show you saying it if it doesn't come out of your mouth. I think the thing that bugged me most about Kate was when she wanted to leave and asked the kids if they wanted to leave or stay. They all wanted to stay. So she told them she was leaving and they were Palins now, not Gosselins. That was so wrong! I felt bad for the kids. I am not usually a Kate basher but she had an attitude the entire time.

Kate had an attitude the whole time! I am not a Sarah or a Kate fan, but I had to watch b/c I knew this would be entertainment at its best :thumbsup2 lol

I think Sarah was really nice to the brood, taking them to her dad's house, her dad was awesome with them! They were genuinely interested in learning about all those artifacts that he had in his house.

And I'm sorry, as a mom, you always "come prepared". I always have hand sanitizer and if going out into the wilderness she should have asked Sarah "anything I could bring?" And I know she's Miss "All Natural Organic" but it wouldn't have killed her to have 1 hot dog.
IDK, if it were me I would enjoyed every minute of it, not everyday I get to go to Alaska! I probably won't get to see it in my lifetime.
