OMG they are gorgeous!!!! What a great job you did. I love the colors, and the little castle graphic! You did an amazing mockup!!

They are AMAZING! I love the colors and all the graphics look so professional! I would love to know more about how you did the graphics:confused: I'm so bad with design stuff on the computer:sad2:

Those are great, and I agree with the wide ribbon being just right. The monogram on the front is sweet and perfect.

ooh they look fantastic. I love the colour, the design everything :)

They are fab :thumbsup2

Thanks girls! I'm so happy with them! They were a big hit at work too! :goodvibes

Thanks! No problem, I'll send you the other two. Do you mean the graphics? They're actually gray, I would have loved to make them a color but couldn't figure out how to do that. So I just did the accent writing in purple.

Thanks Mandy! It was so nice to have it finally come together because we had such a hard time making a final decision on the pockets. Neither of the purples were really right for the pocket, then my brilliant friend at work was like, why don't you switch the colors around...and it was like, wow, why didn't I think of that!

Aww thanks! I'm not so good at the designing thing either, just lucky. I had tried a bunch of different things, finding clip art and stuff like that but it really wasn't working out and I really liked the invites from impressions. Just for kicks, I tried to see if I could just use the image from that invite. I had taken pictures of them so I cropped the photo and adjusted the exposure until I had the background white (the original invite is ivory) so it could be pasted into a document and not look funny. It just worked out that I was already using gray because that's the color the graphic became, after adjusting everything. I really didn't expect it to work out at all but surprisingly it did.

Your invites are so nice! I love them! I really like the look of the thick ribbon.

Thanks so much! I think I really love the thick ribbon too, and I don't really care if the envelope is a little lumpy. :rotfl:

I love those invites Sara! They are gorgeous. You did an amazing job! I read on here someone who mailed the invitation to themselves to see how they held up, so if you are worried about the thick ribbon sticking up too much maybe you could mail it to yourself and see how it holds up?:confused3

anyway, I love them, great job!!!:thumbsup2

Hey everyone,

I got my samples from cards and pockets yesterday and put together my complete invite mock-ups tonight. :goodvibes I was able to print everything without a problem, my only concern is cutting everything to size since my paper cutter is a cheapo portable scrapbooking one and I can barely cut a straight line to save my life! :lmao: I think I will get the monograms printed up and cut by them and maybe the monogram mats too.

We decided to go with a silver metallic pocketfold with a lavender (smooth) mat and white cardstock for the printed invite.

I definitely wanted to use our monogram on the outside but the pocketfolds don't stay closed, so after looking online I got the idea to use a ribbon to hold it shut. :thumbsup2 It won't be frayed like that, I couldn't find a decent pair of scissors. :confused3

DF really liked the way they turned out too. :)

Now just have to consider if I want to use a thinner ribbon. I really like the look of the thick ribbon but am worried it will stick up a little too much when the invite is in the envelope. I also tried one as a bellyband but I like the bow better and I think it makes it more dramatic. DF has a postal scale at work so I'll have him weigh them and see if there is a big difference in the postage.

I'm hoping there'll be a cards and pockets sale soon and I can buy the supplies to make the invite. They just had a sale on samples, so hopefully there's something in the works.

Your invites are beautiful!!!!Have you consider a using box for your invite? I thought about that and some other brides have used them ,( I didn't have much luck finding them )but then your bow wouldn't get smashed...:goodvibes you really did an wonderful job!

Thanks so much! :goodvibes Thanks for the suggestion! I do really love the way the boxed invites look, but I'm just afraid the postage would be crazy! Then there's also the issue of where to find the boxes...

I originally looked for boxes too but sort of gave up after not finding any:confused3... I reworked my invite some too. Good luck with whatever you decide because the invites really are beautiful!

I love your invites! They are beautiful!

Where did you get the castle, carriage, and mickey clipart? Would you mind sharing it?

Sara the invitations look great! The thick ribbon looks very nice. If you are worried about mailing them, take them to the post office and ask them to HAND cancel the invitations.

That's what we did when one of the first ones we sent out got damaged (i had sent like 4 out ahead of the other 60). It seemed like it had gotten damaged because our envelope was thick like yours - cards & pocket with a seal/ribbon. The machine they run things thru just ate it up.

So when i mailed the rest I took them in person, at a time when the post office wasnt busy, and the lady was very nice about it. She saw the evelope and asked if it was a wedding invitation and I said yes and explained what happen to the other one. Said she would be happy to do them all by hand thru out the day.

I do really love the look of that, but I think I will settle on personalized stamps for the wow factor. ;) Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! :goodvibes They are actually from a photo, if you PM me your email address I'll send them to you. They are all in gray, so not sure how flexible it would be to work with if you wanted to change the color. BTW, I loved your invites with the Thomas Kinkade castle, so pretty!

I am a little behind! the invites look great! I personally like the thick ribbon. :thumbsup2

Thanks hun! I'm totally sold on the thick ribbon. I couldn't find thinner ribbon in that color but I don't think it would look as good anyway. ;)

Great idea! I'll definitely have them hand sort them. I would hate to do so much work to have them rip while they were sorted. I did actually put it in an envelope today and it didn't stick up as much as I thought, but I also don't want all the weird stamping they do in the machine. :confused3 I also love the thick ribbon! :thumbsup2

Your invitations are STUNNING!

Thanks Andreah! :cutie: Seeing your invites was actually what inspired me to try to make them myself instead of ordering them, so thanks again! :goodvibes

Hey Everyone!

So today I weighed the invites and they came in at 61 cents :banana: which was great since that's what I expected. I also put it in the envelope to weigh it and the bow didn't stick up as much as I thought it would. I could also always put some books on top of the invites to weigh them down and flatten them a little before we send the out.

Yesterday my vacation time for our PS, the Wedding and our Honeymoon was approved! :cool1: I pretty much knew it would be but it makes it so much more real. It's like, wow, this is really happening! :goodvibes

Pam also sent me the PS request form and I sent that back, she is so awesome! So hopefully we'll have that scheduled soon too.

And we've booked the first week of our Honeymoon! We're going to stay at the Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk. My parent's own timeshare so we got a helluva deal, free is my favorite price! We'll have a 1 bedroom unit with a full kitchen, washer/dryer (definitely need that!) and jetted bath tub. I've looked online and it's in a great location right in the heart of Waikiki.

Now we just have to figure out what to do for the second week...we're thinking of either doing a cruise in Hawaii or spend a week on another island. I'm worried that the cruise will just be a ton of $$$ because of course you need to add excursions and stuff like that. But then we'd be able to see all the islands. If we stayed at another island we could use the timeshare and that would save a ton of money but DF is not keen on the small planes that fly you between islands. :confused3

Then there's the issue of which other island to go to... We don't want any place that's too quiet, and we like restaurants and being able to walk to different places. I know some people don't like Oahu because they say it's too commercialized, but our favorite place is Disney, we kinda like commercialized! :lmao: Our other favorite place is Atlantis... or Caribbean Disney :rotfl2:

I'm kinda leaning toward the big island since you can swim with manta rays there and I think that is awesome, DF thinks I'm nuts! I told him I was going to hold onto one and ride it like a mermaid. Then he thought I was really nuts! :rotfl:

If anyone has been and has suggestions though, I'd love to hear them!

your invitations look beautiful! I love the thick ribbon and the mickey head with the vine like graphic. where did you get that? i would love something like that for my programs possibly. You are so creative! I am glad that they fit well in the envelope so hopefully you are all set with the design! how exciting you got your time off for your wedding, etc. it does make it more real. i think any where in hawaii would be perfect, it is hawaii!!! :rotfl:

Thanks Stephie! I really like the thick ribbon too. I sent you a PM about the graphic. ;)

Lol, yeah I don't think we could really make a bad choice, it is Hawaii after all and either way the beaches will be way nicer than our NY beaches! :lmao:

Since I never tire of seeing my engagement pics and since I also love to shamelessly promote them, lol, just wanted to share that we were on the Roots Blog!

It's like we're famous! :goodvibes

In other news, Pam sent me the Planning Session documents and it's confirmed for Friday, March 26 at 9 am. :) She also sent me updated menus and stuff like that and they had some really cool things on there.

They now have an "after hours" menu, not sure if that's really new, but I never saw it before and it had one thing that included beef sliders with gourmet toppings, fries and milkshakes! I totally love it but think that we'll have way too much food as it is...but maybe we'll incorporate it into our pre-reception. There were really so many tasty sounding things! :woohoo:
