Santee or Florence Sc for stopover

On our way back from Disney we will stop in either of these towns, is one better than the other? Santee was a bit shorter of a drive for us the first day back or should we keep going to Florence.

We just drove back a couple of weeks ago and stopped at the Country Inns and Suites in Florence, SC and we really liked it. The room was huge, good breakfast, friendly, clean and there are lots of restaurants around (like Cracker Barrel, McD's, TGI Fridays, etc.).

I would stay here again.

No shopping that I saw - like no outlet mall type places.

We always stay at the Hampton Inn at Santee. It is probably the nicest Hampton Inn we have stayed at with wonderful warm service. It is also low honors points if you are a member of Hilton Honors. Santee is right next to a river (can't remember the name) and a state park that is on the water. I am always wishing to stop there but, alas, we always need to hit the road! I don't remember shopping in particular but I know there was a grocery store and fast food places right at the exit.

We've stayed in both and we prefer Florence. To me it seems more modern, cleaner. Santee feels older and grungier.
