We have been to DLP several times, stayed at the Newport Bay, Disneyland Hotel and lastly Santa Fe, OK I understand you get what you pay for, however we were on a family "birthday" so not everyone could afford great expense.

On the first night, a maids trolley was left directly outside out room door with smelly nappies inside, I saw one of the maids and asked in French if they would move it and they ignored me!

The second night, the same happened, so I reported the matter to the Hotel manager and the following morning when we opened the door the smell hit us.............

The third night - a different story, the trolley was still there with smelly nappies, so I pushed it outside and left it to the rear of the building, in the morning we had a knock at the door from the maid asking where the trolley was so I told her in French, this time she CERTAINLY understood!

Apart from that, the visit was as good as ever and my mother in law had a fantastic 65th birthday party at the Disney land Hotel Restaurant, especially when Mickey danced with her! :artist:

Sorry to hear about that - it certainly doesn't sound pleasant.

Wonderful!! :cheer2: Do you have any photos of this?!

Thats a bit of a bad experience Graham.

I understand that you get what you pay for and you have probably been spoiled by staying at some fabulous Disney Hotels, however, the standard of cleanliness should be no different in any of the hotels as should the manners of the staff.

Im afraid I dont rate the SF at all. We stayed twice having given the hotel a 'second' chance and also found the staff and room to be well below par in comnparison to others.

Our room had the most horrific stale smell and never cleaned to an acceptable standard. the major issue for me was the lack of customer service shown by the hotel. they just wrote down my complaint and never really saw it through to a resolution.

Budget was the main reason we stayed here and thereafter why we stayed at The Exlorers which was much better all round.

I would suggest writing to the SF but we have still not received a reply to our letter from 2002 .

On a positive note, I am glad all went well with the birthday celebrations and that the rest of the holiday was good. Makes up for the hotel problems eh :thumbsup2

I am sorry you had a bad experience. Until now, every time I have been to DLP, I have stayed at the Santa Fe, and we like it for what it is (a hotel where you sleep a couple of hours between cruising the parks)

I have always met wonderful CMs and gotten good service. I guess it sometimes depends on who you meet or when you go.

Sounds absolutely awful - glad it didn't spoil the overall experience.
SF was the only hotel I haven't enjoyed staying at, like Sarah we had the most horrible smell in the room, which sent me looking under beds and in cupboards for a dirty nappy, do they have a problem with the drains there ?
Luckily we don't spend a lot of time in the hotel and that was a trip done on a budget, but for future budget trips I'd definately pay the extra to stay at the Cheyenne. :)

Ugh, how awful Graham, that really is too bad. :sad2:

Glad the rest of your holiday was good, especially your MIL's birthday meal. :goodvibes

That sounds horrble, such a shame that you had to experence this on your holiday.
The Santa Fe is the one Disney Hotel that I would never stay at, I really don't like the look of it and the Cheyene seems much better value.

I stayed at the Santa Fe for my first visit. I liked it - basic but what more do you want really. It sounds as though you had a horrible time! :confused3 Stale nappies....ugh. :furious: I have opted for the Sequoia Lodge since then but it is expensive. It's really hard to know what to do for the best sometimes isn't it?

I've never really fancied the theming of the Sante Fe but now I've been put off it completely.

The good things about the lower price disney hotels is that they now have some comnpetition in the form of the off-site ones. In comparison they are much better VFM with much better facilities.

They put about 5 minutes extra on your trip to the parks. The downside is you dont get the daily visit from a character in the hotel, but given you are about to spend long periods in the parks you can easily get your fix and photo opportunities there instead.

The SF will always be one of the most popular Dh as it is used extensively by the coach companies for cost reasons.

Having said that I would endure another stay if it was the only option - anything to spend time with the Mouse. He He

Not a pleasant experience, by the second night I may have just wheeled the trolly down to the lobby and parked it at reception :)

We found that our room at the Santa Fe smelt of cigarette smoke, as did the bedding. Wasn't very nice at all really. We wouldn't stay there again either.

Sadly that was not the case with our problem either.

Its a shame really as your expectation levels are so high, but I am sure many have had good experiences at the SF and hope the few of us here have just been the unlucky ones. :confused3

I presumed the Management would do their job!
I would have reported your complaint to City Hall who I'm sure would have ensured that the rest of your stay was enjoyable :goodvibes
