This year we have to make a cheap trip cause we been to WDW as well so we are staying at Santa Fe... well that's the plan anyway.
We haven't stayed in a cheap hotel so we would like to know what you think about Santa Fe. Is it good? (I know it's not NY)how is the food? can you walk to the parks? all the info about Santa Fe....:thumbsup2

:thanks:

I have stayed quite some times at Santa Fe, also at Christmas time.
I liked the hotel for what it is: a place to sleep and shower. I don't care what the outside of the building is themed like, as long as the bed is clean (they always were) and the bathroom is clean (was always the case).
We always tried to have the GMFB; I don't like breakfast at Santa Fe, it's too hectic for me.
I have never eaten at the restaurant for dinner, so I can't help you with that.

There were nice Christmas trees, and there are characters in the lobby (mornings). You can walk to the parks, it's what we did, but it's not a short walk. Depending on how fast you go, it's about 15-20 minutes, I think.

We walked every morning from the Santa Fe - its a pleasant walk/stroll.
I personally wouldn't have my meals there - because you can get table service in nicer surroundings for a similar price as the Santa Fe dinner buffet menu. And I prefer GMF to the hotel breakfast too.

But the rooms are absolutely fine, very clean, and the beds are very comfy. The staff are helpful, and after all, its still a Disney hotel.

i haven't actually stayed at the santa fe
however, if you could manage to scrape together a little bit extra from somewhere (that infamous money tree!) then perhaps try cheyenne? i love it there and for one of the cheapies its brilliant! the theming is amazing and at xmas its great
just a thought

Stayed at the Santa Fe the first time i went to DLRP. Its ok for what it is, but nothing special. If I were you i would upgrade to Hotel Cheyenne. It doesnt cost that much more and the theming is much better :thumbsup2 .

I'm planning a new years trip and cant choose between santa fe or cheyenne, i loved the feel and theme of cheyenne but my only concern is having a room all the way over to the far end of the resort and if it is worth the extra money???

Also is there a limited on GMFB or could you book them for every morning of the stay?

i think i may go for cheyenne, does anyone have a link to some room pics as i haven't seen any before?

Also ,how do the breakfest times compare, are santa fe and cheyenne just as busy as each other?

x

Thanks a lot... I might be a bit behind here, but what is GMF? We always eat breakfast in the hotel, can you eat it somewhere else???
We might skip the dinner there and find another nice place to eat.

I've been twice to Santa Fe and booked for January there again...when I booked it the lass was really trying to get me to go to another hotel because I'd already be twice before.....I said that I would NEVER go anywhere else because we are out all day and just went back for a wash and a sleep.

I have found the hotel superb and the staff couldn't be nicer...I'd rather spend the extra money on toys and stuff for the kids.

Oh yeah and the lass on the phone also said (I didn't believe her) that ALL the mattresses in the resort are EXACTLY the same. Think she was annoyed cause I said the beds at the Santa Fe were awesome!!

SANTA FE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!;)

GMF= Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast

You can eat breakfast in fantasyland an hour before the park is open if you are staying in Newport Bay Club,Sequoia Lodge,Cheyenne,Santa Fe. No extra charge just book before you arrive or when you check in ::MickeyMo

heres a link to some photos of cheyenne
i really can't recommend it enough. my mum works at a college teaching travel and tourism and books a trip to disneyland every year, one year they decided to attempt the santa fe instead of cheyenne and weren't very impressed, every since they've always stayed at the cheyenne. its better for theming, seems to be a little tidier and neat in its paint work etc, and its nearer to the park

Thanks, we walked around it but it was about 11pm so we couldn't really see much. Do some of the rooms have balconies? i didn't know whether they were connected to the rooms or not.

It did have a lovely feel to it when we walked through, it was lovely to see people just sitting out on the porch and was very quiet altho it was late lol so i guess it would be.

Ahh GMF... now I get it. Is that good.?.. sounds really cool. Do we have to book before we arrive or can it wait untill we check in, I mean is it going to be fully booked real quick....

Well its nice to get in the park earlier, i think they do it becuase it helps with the breakfest loads in the hotels.

You can book before or at the hotel on check in.They just gave us ours on check in prob because we didnt really know alot about it. I think it was only offered for one restaurant when we went, so if your going at a busy times such as christmas i think it may be better to book earlier.

Also if u can eat in the park on a day with the extra magic hours in the morning i think that would be really good. We didnt did get any extra hours in the morning but had evenings on our stay which were brill as we got to go on alot of the rides in the 2hours that we couldn't get on in the day.

upgrade to cheyenne if you can... iv been to both and cannot recommend cheyenne enough compared to santa fe. For me santa fe is like butlins, where as cheyenne is definitely disney!

breakfast at cheyenne isnt great, but its a million times better than santa fe...

We're going to the Santa Fe in 5 week's time, as for us, it was more important to save money where possible to maximise the fun inside the parks.....the extra it would have cost us to upgrade to the Cheyenne has paid for a meal at Cafe Mickey for the 3 of us.

The walk from Santa Fe is nice. You can pop across the bridge by the alien saucer to the Cheyenne side of the river and walk in that way which shaves the corner/bridge off by Sequoia Lodge :thumbsup2

Personally, I love Hotel Cheyenne. The theming is excellent. But if it means going or not going I'd be happy in Santa Fe also :thumbsup2

Hi,

we went last yr 2 adults 2 kids and stayed in the sante fa and are going back this October and again staying in the santa fa.

Our room was lovely. 2 large double beds, tv, stoarge lots of it aswell, good sized bathroom etc. So really we couldnt fault it. And also as we spent all our trip in the parks themselfs it was perfect for a base for sleep and a rest.

The main part of the building was lovely aswell and every morning there was a meet and greet with pluto and goofy. Staff where very nice aswell and extremely helpful aswell. Breakfast was also fine for us kids loved it as did we also though it could be a tad caotic at times we survived.

In saying this though we have never stayed in another hotel on the resort, but if you are looking for somewhere cheap, cheerful, and a base to sleep then id go for it ... :) ( means you will also have more spending money )

Oh and another tip there is a garage just outside the santa fa so you can stock up on nibbles and juice etc and its so much cheaper than in the park ...

have fun booking though ... :goodvibes
