Just got back from the mall. They had signs all over the place...Welcome Santa when he arrives of Saturday November 5.

Already??????? :confused3

I wonder if they're trying to take advantage of St. Nick Day (11/6), and bring in Santa Claus so early.

It's all about money. They would start in September if they thought they could get away with it.

I work for a toy drive and thats the weekend all the toy drop boxes go out in the Friendly restaurants here!

Wow, thats kind of early...in England we still need to get bonfire night out of the way...

May I ask what bonfire night is? I've never heard of that. Thank-you.

November 5th is waaaaay too soon! I remember my kids being little and counting down the days to Thanksgiving and the realization that after turkey and pumpkin pie was the arrival of Santa and all the holiday decorations.

Bonfire night takes place annually on November 5th every year...it celebrates how when a man called Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the houses of parliament in 1605 he was stopped just in time. Most people go to bonfire night parties where we have huge bonfires and throw on dolls which are made to look like Guy Fawkes. We then let off fireworks and have lots of yummy food including my favourite...bonfire toffee. Anyway, i'm not too good at explaining this sort of thing but if you check out this link it explains it a lot better than I can: http://www.bonfirenight.net/

Wow - that's very interesting. I've heard of Guy Fawkes but not bonfire night!

Three of my favorite things: bonfires, fireworks, and yummy food! :teeth:

Thanks for explaining. I'm going to the link to read more.

My town has it's Christmas parade in early november. :confused3

But St. Nick Day is 12/6, not 11/6.

If everyone finds the early Christmas decorations so annoying, then why do businesses do it?

:confused3

I don't have kids yet but having Santa so early makes sense to me. Think about how much easier it will be to see Santa if you know that you have more than the usual month.
