DD,8, asked me today if Santa was going to bring her presents at disney this year.:santa: We will be there Dec. 19-28, and that is really their present except for a few small things. :confused3 But Karlie wants to know what Santa is bringing? Any ideas?:santa:

We've sort of got the same thing going on here.

We'll be at AKV, Dec. 20-26.

We've told DS9 that Santa will bring a few presents to WDW, but that he'll leave most of them at our house.
DS9 wasn't too thrilled with that.
We're not making the trip his gift (we go too often for that) but there is no way I'm lugging all of those gifts down to Fla.

I think it's great that you are going to WDW but to be honest, an 8 year old is not going to really understand that her gift is the trip. If it were me I would save some extra money and make Christmas the way your dd is used to. I am not flaming so please don't take it that way. I am just saying what I would do. I hope it all works out.princess:

We had Christmas at WDW and packed a few small gift items for DS. I had brought a Disney stocking filled with gifts, nothing too big. I am sure a few things for your DD and the excitement of being at WDW will make for a good Christmas.

A thought in case you do decide that Santa will bring presents this year (and you don't want to bring them all with you!)....

We were away at Grandma's (5 hours away) at Christmas this past year. When we were getting in the car for the trip, I went back in the house "to potty", pulled out all the wrapped presents and stuck them under the tree....put a few things in the girls' stockings, then off we went.

When we came home, it was MAGICAL to see their faces when they came up the stairs to the gifts under the tree!!! They were beyond excited that Santa brought them gifts at their house (we only took a few things to Grandmas and told them Santa would most likely leave a few things at each place for them).

:goodvibes

We were in Walt Disney World for Christmas last year. For our Santa gift, Santa left us a scroll under our tree in the room. When we opened it Christmas Day we had a Family Magic Tour for our family. We had a great time and the tour was something that the kids didn't know about so it was a neat way to make the most of our vacation. Good luck in whatever you plan.

If your child truly still belives in Santa, I would be sure that he come to WDW because chances are this might be her last year to belive and I would hate for her to connect that to WDW. The gifts can be smaller in size and price but I would try to hold on to your normal tradition whether it be three gifts per child child or whatever. Maybe a lot of disney related stuff like dinsey dollars or a new pool toy.

We split Christmases between the two sets of grandparents who are both far away. Santa brings their stockings and leaves a note that their gifts are at home under the tree. (We pay the dogsitter a little extra to bring the gifts out for us.) They also get the presents from the grandparents & the rest of that side of the family and a few things from us to open on Christmas morning.

As for making the trip the main present, I don't see a problem with that. I may be wrong, but I don't think an 8-year old yet knows how much things cost, so wrapping a handful of small things as gifts is probably just about as meaningful as expensive things. It's amazing what you can find at the dollar store! If money is really tight, perhaps some other members of your family wouldn't mind if some gifts from them are labeled as being from Santa. Also, if there is anything "extra" on the trip, like a special meal or tour, that could be put in a card from Santa.
