Sanford, FL day trip

We might be taking a last minute trip to WDW this week (!!!), and I am thinking of visiting a church on Sunday that I thought was in Orlando, but is actually in Sanford.

Tips? Anything we should eat/do/see while in the Sanford area? We have reciprocal membership to the Central Florida Zoo, so might visit (reviews are meh, but also old). TIA

I haven't been in a while, but I've heard that the Sanford downtown/river walk area is nice. Hollerbach's Willow Tree Cafe, an authentic German restaurant, is supposed to be amazing- it gets rave reviews. I've been meaning to try it myself.

Thank you! I will look at Hollerbach's menu and pics of the river walk. We really enjoy our city walk here in Atlanta, so that's probably a good option for us.

Are you baseball fans? While the stadium where Jackie Robinson was prevented from playing baseball is no longer standing, you can see the house where he lived because he wasn't allowed to stay with the rest of the team. It's at 612 S. Sanford Avenue.

The Sanford Museum, 520 E 1st St, has objects from the city's history. I wonder if it still houses the memorial to Trayvon Martin; you could find out!

HUGE baseball fans. Hard not to be, growing up in Atlanta in the 90s. What an excellent suggestion! Thank you! I will look that up now, and pack my Ebbets Field shirt, just in case.
