I was just reading the tsa site, and saw the rules about screening the baggage, in that US airports now do one of 3 things:
1) screening as before (you drop off your luggage at the ticket desk and it gets done behind the scenes)
2) After ticket desk, you take your bags to the screening area where they are screened.
3) Before check in, your bags get screened first and then an authorised person delivers your bags at the checkin.

We are going via Sanford in September....and would be grateful if someone could tell us how Sanford works and which method they use

Thanks for any advice

Paul

We were there in October and our checked luggage was taken at the ticket desk.

We flew out of Sanford twice. Both times, we checked our luggage at the counter and staff screened it afterward; our carry-ons were inspected upstairs before we entered the boarding areas. On our second trip to WDW, my (60-something) mother and I were selected for intensive search both flying down and returning home. We were directed into a side area where we removed our shoes, were "wanded," and had our carry-ons hand-searched. While annoying (and somewhat mystifying), it didn't take long.
