OK,

If we decide to fly into Sanford what is the most economical way to get to the World? Call me tight, but I just despise giving up big bucks for shuttle service.

Bargains to be had? Anything? :confused3

You could easily rent a car...that will be your cheapest choice. Most of the towncars charge significantly more to do transfers from Sanford since it's much further out and there aren't nearly as many people there. You will find that when they pick some one up at MCO, they have just dropped another party off. This doesn't happen nearly as often with Sanford. A towncar will run you close to $200 for a rount trip ride.
There are no 'true' shuttles there, or at least I haven't heard of any. Others here may have other info.

You are right, no shuttles, just wannabees or pretenders until the money question comes up. The car service does run around $200.00 round trip, but there are certain advantages to that, You supposedly can rent a vehicle for the day and drop it off at WDW. Than pick it back up on return day and drop it off at Sanford.

Is it just me or could Disney stand to gain big $$$ by offering a cost effective shuttle from Sanford? Maybe not enough demand as of yet.

Disny is prohibited by contract with Orlando International Airport to offer its transportation service to any other airport within a radius of 100 miles from Orlando. So free service will not be offered to the Sanford Airport.

From Sanford the best thing to do is rent a car. We are flying form Chattanooga instead of Knoxville because it was about $30 less per leg from there. With Allegiant flight being so reasonable I think you will see more traffic there in the future.

but remember you can always just go for groceries and then drop it off at the car care center or dolphin ,that's the cheapest way to go, you'll like sanford it's very small...

The volume of guests using Sanford is not cost effective to offer even a discounted service.

I bow to Edd's knowlege when he say's that Disney cannot offer it's services at Sanford.

Rent a car oneway down and back. It should cost less than a car service and it's only an hour drive using the Greenway (sr417) which is very near the airport exit.

Like sammielynn mentioned above we are also flying out of Chattanooga into Sanford. We paid $39 each way. The grand total for the three of us was $331 and this includes 5 checked bags (Allegiant charges a fee for checked luggage). We're renting a car from Dollar at the Sanford Airport for 9 days for $194. Had we flown into MCO we would have had to pay $900 just for the airfare. Now we have the use of a rental car for 9 days plus we're saving $375!!! Needless to say, we're more than happy with our decision to use the Sanford Airport!!! :thumbsup2

One of the reasons travel to the Sanford Airport is becoming more popular.

We just booked the $39 flight out of Knoxville this afternoon. Allegiant must have changed their pricing over the weekend. A LOT of dates left for the $39 rate! Our total was $323.40 for our clan of three including taxes and 3 bags. I know what you mean about that Delta flight into MCO ... $900 was the price we had also. We're heading out on 9-21 and back home on 10-1. Now if I can just be satisfied with our resort choice. :goodvibes Right now we're at CSR. Would love to go deluxe, but the cost is sooooo much more.

Thanks for the tips, we'll certianly look into the car rental.

we rented a car when i made the ressie and alamo was $95 for 9 days can't beat that, i wonder if you can call allegiant and add alamo car to your ressie, worth a shot,
i forgot to add if your looking for a car the airport code is SFB, good luck...

What are your dates and what size Car. The best I can find for nine days May 27 - June 5 is $192.17

I'm with sammielynn, leanne11 you got an excellent rate!! I checked all the places at the Sanford Airport and what I have is the lowest I could find. I checked Dollar yesterday and the price has gone up $60  from when I booked.

We are flying Allegiant from Chattanooga to Sanford in Oct (Fall Break). It will be nice to sleep in our own beds at home the night before the flight and not have to fly out of Atlanta or Nashville to get an affordable, direct flight into Orlando. Also, we won't have to pay to park the car for the week while we are gone.

I booked our flight last month at $49 each way. Today, the same flights are $79 down and $39 back. I'm glad I booked early.

Go Big Orange!

the next page asked if you wanted dis tix and we said no so the next page asked if we wanted a compact alamo car for the $90 bucks and i jumped at it, so it is in our plane ressie, that's why i was wondering if you can call and add it to allegiant air, i went on and looked and just like the airfare the price for a rental is $209 for our week..remember dollar isn't at the dolphin if you were thinking about that way..
