Sanford Airport to Champions World Resort

We will be flying in to Sanford Airport and landing about 8:30 pm and heading to Champions World Resort (8660 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL ). I have done mapquest and google maps, but wondering if locals might know of a better route. Also, we will need to stop at a store. Where should be stop. I understand there is a Super Target not far from the hotel--but what time does it close?

From Sanford International Airport, you can take I-4 or the Central Florida Greeneway (Florida-417 Toll Road), or you can start on 417 and then cut over to I-4 near downtown Orlando. The routes all take around an hour.

I-4 has a lot more traffic. 417 requires $6 in tolls for the whole distance.

At 8:30 p.m. (more like 9:00 p.m. before you have your bags and your rental car), I would take I-4 to save the $6. But that's just me. It really depends on what you prefer.

The SuperTarget is on W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy (192) just east of the Western Expressway (Florida 428 Toll Road). Using the "Find a Store" function at http://www.target.com/ here's the SuperTraget and its hours. I've been inside It's a very new store, so it's very nice:

If your plane is late and you get to SuperTarget too late, there's a 24-hour Walmart Supercenter on US-27, approx. a half mile north of W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy (192).

thanks! Very helpful, now can you tell me directions from Champions World Resort to the parks. I understand there is a back way to take, I believe the name of the raod is Black Lake Road but cant find where the post where someone wrote that.

For all Disney water parks and Disney theme parks (except Animal Kingdom), the shortest route is also the easiest route: From Champions World Resort, take W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy (US-192) east (approx. 4-5 miles) to World Drive (north), which is the main entrance to Walt Disney World from the south. Just follow the signs when you're on Disney property.

To Animal Kingdom, there's a shortcut involving a left turn from W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy (US-192) onto Sherberth Rd., and then taking Sherberth Rd. through backstage areas until you see signs. (The left turn onto Sherberth Rd. is after a McDonald's on the left.) It's easy to miss Sherberth Rd. If you don't have GPS, it might be easier just to use World Drive again and to follow the signs.
